    Ain't nothing wrong with Canadian club! I wish I could be enjoying some right now. Been a long day, a glass with two cubes would be perfect, gotta save up for spring break!

      I'm not a fan of Scotch, never tried anything decent, though, I think.

      How should I ease into it?

          I haven't been back home to D.C. in a while but ice cubes are pretty cheap down here...

              It's kinda like buying your first guitar (or car, or hooker, or whatever).

              If you go cheap, you'll think it sucks and never want to do it again. If you get something good quality, you're a lot more likely to enjoy it, and keep doing it.

              I don't care for blends, so I don't like JW. Single Malts are my fav. However, scotch is like women. There are so many to choose from, you just have to keep trying until you find one you like :). Some bitter, some sweet. Some dark, some light. Some you'll want to bury out in the desert, or sink to the bottom of a lake. Some you will love, but they will treat you like shit... just keep looking for one that suits you.

                I wish. It's $60 Merican. That's probably about $100 Canadian though. ;)

                      I'm not a scotch drinker at all, but I know we have some good ones.

                      Our non-scotch whiskey collection is a lot more impressive though, I think. All five bottles of the 2011 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection... those were really difficult to find.

                        @z31maniac,

                        Maybe try doing mixed drinks with it first? Usually if I'm able to I'll start off with a mixed drink, then I'll go to drinking it straight with ice cubes. The mixed drink helps get you accustomed to the taste of it without going full-bore.

                          I actually started with soda and ice when I was drinking the crappy stuff. then less and less soda, to the point where I only like a couple of cubes at most
                          If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

                            Highballs. Scotch + soda water and ice. It's how the drink it in Japan... and they drink a SHITLOAD of scotch.

                              Nice collection. I'm on my first bottle of the standard Buffalo Trace and so far I'm enjoying it quite a bit. I'm fairly new to bourbon and looking forward to getting into it more.

                                JW is my 1st choice, I've only had red & black. But I'm still a newb and have barely been 21. Tonight it's gonna be some cheap hipster pabst.
