so guys, a friend of mine is trying to get classic insurance for her 88 vert. no one wants to do it. it's her second car, kept in a garage and still they wont take it. how do you guys do it? they keep telling her that it's not worth enough to quallify for classic insurance. she has tried 3 different insurance companies. one was haggerties, another was njm and not sure of the third. so, whats the trick to getting our beloved e30's classic status?

Have the car appraised, prove the value. If it's actually worth $2000 then I'm not surprised nobody will cover it.Comment

Why wouldn't they cover it? That is the business they are in. 2 hundred or 2 million - the premium is just different.Comment

I tried this as a way to avoid emissions testing here in AZ.
It works if you tell them your car is super collectable, rare, and is mint. They may want pics but say its worth over $10k for sure. Who cares if your car is over insured.. :) Seemed pretty dumb to me too..

I spoke with a Hagerty rep last week. He told me that according to their rate sheets, an E30 classified as a "good daily driver" is worth an average of $7,500; a fully restored non-M3 tops out around $11,000.Comment
