Wow I thought it was just in Canada that we got bent over the barrel for cable. I was paying $200/mo for a couple months. FUCK THAT.

Paying that much for 700 channels half of which are the same ones in different time zones and the rest just play the same damn shows anyway sup with that?

700 channels and there is still nothing worth watching half the time. So not worth it.

Not to mention that the internet which was supposed to be the second fast available through them and was actually 1/3 as fast(1 Mbit/sec) as what I would get hotspotting off of my 3g Iphone 4.

We have 2x HD DVR Boxes, 3x regular boxes, HBO and Cable Internet with speed boost(whatever is fastest). I don't feel this is out of line.
We're ditching soon, its terrible. They raised our rates and got rid of channels. Gonna try the Netflix, downloading and over the air options and see how long we can last (this is after the NCAA tourney).

Also, you guys know the prime shipping thing is a rip-off. If you shop logged out you can see that they raise the prices on prime customers http://brightviolet.wordpress.com/20...eal-after-all/

Yeah, we pay $65/month for 25mb down connection. But we hammer Netflix with it, so it's worth it.

And now that F1 is starting back up, it allows to "find" the races/quali.

Not same vendor... one is Amazon and one is Ace Photo Digital.

The $264.54 page even has a link to the "13 new from $258.66"

The blogger got chewed out in the comments too:
"Lol, this has to be one of the stupidest articles on wordpress.

Not only is the article totally wrong and biased, even after many commenters point out the obvious mistake of the author, she still narrowmindedly fails to understand."
It's not just Prime, but things that ship with Super Saver Shipping (i.e. already in Amazon's warehouse) sell for a few bucks more than third party which usually require shipping - especially look at like used textbooks. A smart shopper compares all alternatives, and sometimes that's buying 3rd party not Amazon direct.

this, and it also depends on how much and what you buy. we buy a lot of stuff on amazon, sometimes large stuff - that $79 paid it self off many times over last year. and I haven't even taken advantage of the video streaming services.

I haven't had cable TV in 10 years. It's just not worth the money. We have netflix (a godsend if you have kids), and of course there's plenty of free streaming options online. I've been meaning to install a regular antenna so I can pick up over the air digital TV as well..

We've got a Roku box (~$80) and between local over the air channels, Amazon Prime and Netflix, we have plenty of stuff to watch. $80/year for Amazon and $8/mo for Netflix. We used to have the Netflix DVD's by mail plan for like $5/month but we would get the disc in the mail and then it would sit, sometimes for a month or more- I think one sat for 3+ months. So the on-demand/streaming thing is just alot more user-friendly IMHO.

Yeah, some people are weird and obsessed with the boob tube. I'd rather watch stuff I really want to see, not just channel surf to find something that'll do.

I like the Roku box, but also use Netflix on Wii and got a Blueray player at Christmas with Pandora, Amazon Video, Netflix, Hulu Plus, etc. on it and absolutely love it (for about the same price as the high-end Roku). Hulu Plus didn't have the selection we wanted (like on Free Hulu), but Netflix at $8/month has been spectacular.

I pay $30/mo for 20Mbps down, but I had to call and threaten to drop Comcast to get a 6 month promotion deal.

Anyway to receive F1 live, beside paying out the ying yang via cable? MM Coconutball, MLB, F1, and local weather is all I need. I have HS internet, HD 2 boxes and take a reaming @ $200.00 from Comcast. Comcast just had a price increase. Less channels and higher price. No inflation my ass. Does Roku offer F1 on RacerTV? Goggled for info and no info avaliable. Called and spoke to "Lisa" in Bangladesh. She was clueless. Pirate F1 stream? Dealing with Comcast makes the fine fellows down at the PuP look like Saints. BTW SKY network over in England is charging 300 pounds for F1 this year. SKY outbid BBC for the rights. Wonder when Bernie will ream the USA?

UK proxy and use BBC iplayer, works for TG so I'm sure it'll work for F1 as well.

I wait and DL after from a private site, I don't get to watch it live....but paying an extra $120/month to get the pacakge with Speed/HD/DVR wasn't worth it.

Is it? Everytime I hear this I say... start up a new company and offer the same thing for cheaper. Guarantee you will make millions and eventually force Comcast to lower their price. No one seems to be doing it... so maybe it is a little different than people make it seem.

I work from home. I use my internet and TV all day long. I have the TV on in the background with news/financial stuff/etc. My phone system is VOiP so I am using that all day. Again though I have 3 cable boxes that are 'extra'. One is in the bedroom and I like to have the noise of American Dad/Family Guy when I fall asleep. Or when F1 is on at 2:30am I can watch it in bed. That cost me 8 bucks a month for each box. The two DVR/HD boxes are more per month. That is NOT the actual service cost. 5 boxes and a cable modem. I am renting these basically. Plus I am paying for the fastest residential internet service because I need it. It makes me money.

As said I don't find it outrageous. What is my other option? Netflix... well they don't have live TV. Does Amazon Prime have it? Cause that is 80 a month and then need to stream it. I use the shit out of my Netflix live streaming but would not switch to that as my only source.

And I love Sports. It works for me.

BBC does not have all F1 this year... SkySport is the current option. I am on Raceing4M3 so I get it that way. If it is really late and I want to watch live I'll randomly check it out on Speed.

Amazon Prime is $80 a YEAR, not month (look at thread title)...

And you could fall to sleep to Netflix or free Hulu of Family Guy, not needing a cable subscription to do that.

If you like live sports, then that's a reason to get cable... but doesn't make paying how much you do NOT outrageous. I get by fine with ESPN's game tracker for the most part, any exciting highlights are up elsewhere after. A seriously big game [NOT ON ANTENNA] could be watched at a friends or a bar / restaurant.

Compare $200/mo vs. others for a total of:
$2400/yr for you for Cable and Internet
$496/yr for me with Comcast internet + Netflix + Amazon Prime (student)
$456/yr for anyone who just has internet + Netflix

Are you saying that it is worth to you $1944/yr to have live sports in multiple rooms? That's an E30!

Yah but I go into bedroom. Get into bed. Set TV to sleep 60 minutes. Adult Swim. Done. No going on Hulu or Amazon and streaming it over via HDMI or some other method. It's just easier that way.

So I can get in my car and drive somewhere? And then end up spending money on food/drink away from my house. I'd much rather watch my favorite college football game in my recliner at my house... and I already have Pizza Rolls and Mountain Dew at my house ;) lulz

I have enough E30s and don't need more... unless it's a vert. I just find what we have, it's reliability and my needs. It works well. The other options offering equal to what I have(IE does not require watching on my computer and carrying a laptop around with an HDMI cable) are not cheaper. I can give up features/ease of use for less of course. I don't want to.
