    Buying car out of state

Hey guys I'm about to pick up an e28 in california, but I live in AZ. Does anyone know what I have to do while I'm there, because I need to switch it to an AZ title.

Do I just get the 30 day plate to drive it over here?

    1) Pay money

    2) get bill of sale, title, and Keys

    3) drive home (in CA plate stays with car)

    4) Fuck Bitches in new Car

    5) Go to DMV at home register and get new title and plate

    6) Use CA plate for target practice

    7) ????????

    8) Profit

Seems simple enough. So I have to keep the plate thats on the car thats registered to the (soon to be) previous owner? Then just register when I get home. Seems simple enough.

Some people are saying the title needs to be notarized?

title thing might be. I dont know that, I just know the plate stays with the car in CA. some states say title has to be notarized but thats not hard to find a place to pay 10 bucks for that service, most banks will do it.

Alright, seller informed me the previous owner lost the title and they did a bill of sale, which is what he wants to do with me, but he filed for a duplicate and it takes a while to get?

I got a full carfax/autocheck report on it and it says the title is clear, not stolen, no accidents and all that. no red flags.

So, should I say no until he has the title or what?

Make him get the title. Especially if he already started the process

Damn, this crap always happens when I try to buy a car.

What if I go with him to the CA DMV and sorted it out there?

He said theres an "addition cutoff release of liability" that he can fill out, and that he would mail me the title when he received it.

Just sucks because if I don't pick it up someone else will. and its a heck of a deal.

It's a deal because the guy doesn't have the title.

Never, ever, ever trust someone to mail you the title.

                      Fucking never.

Title is the first thing you confirm when buying a car brother, listen to everyone, don't buy it without it, no one else is going to buy it without a title. Why don't you just ask the guy to hold it for you while he gets the title?

I live in Tucson, and I got my E30 in Cali, just like you want to do. Made sure guy had clean title, gave him a deposit to hold the car, flew out there a couple weeks later.

Get the title notarized, bill of sale, buy the car, take the keys and enjoy the ride.

Hope it all works out, be cautious.
