    Insight on a violation

so yes, another speeding ticket thread, but id like r3vs opinion on it

so tonight was on the bike, and got on it a bit in the large tunnel on the 10, nothing too crazy, just want to hear that oh so sweet exhaust note reverberate off the walls, but i failed to see the cop i blew by three or four lanes over

well he pulled me over pretty quickly, and said he paced me at 80 mph. on the ticket it also said "pace". Basically he followed me at the same speed i was going then looked at his speedo, estimated my speed, and wrote me a ticket

now usually i dont really care about tickets and just end up paying them, but im curious as to what you guys think would be the best plan of attack, or if anyone knows something else i can or should do. do I

    A. Pay ticket, have it go on my record and possibly have my rates increase
    B. Pay to go to traffic school, which when alls said and done will equal the cost of the ticket
    C. Fight it, possibly have it reduced or dropped, or possibly have to pay in full and end up in traffic school anyways

    thoughts?

He was probably following you for awhile to see if you would noticed. I got hit with 77 in the tunnel a couple months ago. I took traffic school, now this most recent ticket about doing 84 on way back from vegas, I'm taking that one in the pooper.

No az court is gonna side with a bike anyways, this state loves there traffic ticket revenue.

if he didn't actually gun you argue it until it is dropped. He doesn't have evidence against you

Here's my order of dealing with tickets with in the same years.

Luckily I haven't had more than two in a years time.

          1st ticket--Take defensive driving
2nd ticket--Deferred adjudication (don't know if this is available in your state)
3rd ticket--Lawyer up, because you're fucked for the 2nd and 3rd. Usually all the lawyers have an in somehow with the courts and reschedule the court date, and the cop usually ends up missing the court date that's on a different schedule than he's used to, so it's dismissed.

either way, all three of them end up costing as much as the ticket, but they stay off your insurance and your driving record.

go to court, show up, you cant fight it pacing is how they are actually suppose to give you tickets they are trained how to do it, the radar is suppose to be only to confirm it(in your case not applicable) be honest with the judge and get the charge dropped and he might let you do traffic school, i did the same thing with my bike ticket 137+ got dropped on sight to 70 in a 55 went to court told the truth, i F#%ed up and he reduced my fine to like 250ish it didnt go on my record and i got money back

e30e is right, fighting a traffic violation in Arizona is more rare than catching a green light in Tucson...

I've never heard of anyone winning here, ever, and personally I've seen many a case go down including my own with not so much as a twitch of consideration in the judge.

Also, people always say the cop probably won't show, they always fucking show up.

Rule of thumb: Never just pay a ticket -- unless it is for something like a seatbelt or cell phone or something along the lines of them not needing any evidence. You should either get a lawyer to fight it or contest it yourself.

It is well worth the money to pay a lawyer the $200-$400 to keep it off of your driving record. In the long run your auto insurance will be so much less expensive if you have a clean record.

I got cited for going 69 in a 45, no radar, the cop said I appeared to be going faster than the rest of traffic and his trained eye gave me 69 mph.... I fought it, he won, judge was zoning out the whole time, every single traffic ticket being fought while I was there, he would say the same thing.

They just say that the cops are right because they are law enforcement and wouldn't lie. Bullshit.

lawyer up for every single ticket you ever get. It will pay off in the long run. even if it was blatantly your fault

^^ Not all judges are that way - fight it! He has certain rules he has to abide by for pacing. If he did not meet just one of those then you have a chance. He also has to show up.

Fight it, but be prepared to lose....just in case.
