You guys go ahead and keep throwing junk yard 24v engines in your cars until its not trendy anymore. I'll stick with being able to fix and rebuild stuff without having to order parts from 6 different models.
    Lol.

M10 is better than an M20. Do some research on the M10. It can push out over 1000hp, and has. Not to mention the were used m10s.

    Also, I've never done a 24v swap. I stick to M30s. ;)

those weren't really M10s that you'd get in a street car - they had different heads, and everything was built for racing.

the regular M10 was a good engine in it's day, though. but if you like 90hp vs 170hp.. OK. :)

Without the M10, there would be no M30. Without the M30, there would be no M20.

Without the m20 there would be no m50 and so on. There are people putting down over 1100hp with m20s, is that not enough? Still need ti go 24v? How much more does an m50 weight than an m20? And your right slammin, m30 and m20 are very close siblings with nearly identical designs, so why you hating on m20s? Just because they are smaller?

            Timing belts man.

No, really, M20s are fine, I just don't like them. I started with M30s, first BMW was a 1985 535i. Always looked down on the 528e, probably always will. I've had two M20 cars. My dad has one. Just built a 2,7 stroker for a friend. I just don't like them. I find them...annoying to work on.

Anywho, I've never been a 24v guy either. I'd rather see an M30 go into an e30 than a 24v engine. The 12v is more time period correct.

I'm pretty much just a bias pig towards the M30. ;) :nice:

Really? Timing belts is why m20 sucks? Sack up and change the timing belt every 50k or 4 years. You can swap in a 24v but changing a timing belt every 4 years, no way. Just admit your all doing 24v swaps 'cause the cool kids are doing it.

                Slammin' I love m30s as well. ;)

Put in a 24V motor because its more economical and makes more power not because im some hipster waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles.

I really don't like doing them. I'd rather drive an M30 for 300k miles with regular oil changes and not have to worry. M20s are fun little toys, but M30s are SRSBSNS. ;) ;)

Hehe, you still gotta change the water pump on that beast, no?

M30's are good motors, but hating on M20s cause of a timing belt is kind of dumb. It's just regular maintenance, and takes like 2 hours to do once you've done one timing belt.

                          Only when it goes out.

I just don't like doing them. I'm the kinda person who would put it off until it broke. It's damn inconvenient for me. :nice:
