Anyone who thinks an 80's Volvo is a bad purchase is truly ignorant and I feel for them.

They are fucking tanks, they run forever and never complain. That car is a STEAL for that price.

Yes. I didn't read anything in OP's post or anyone elses. Whatever it is, yes, do it.

Loving the colorful variety of opinions here. Going to take a second look today in the light. If it still looks good, I'll call the seller.

Saw it in the light today, then spoke to the owner. Here's what I know:

                      -low miles, 126k

-within last 20k miles, new belts and hoses, including t-belt and water pump, new clutch, distributor cap.

-Needs brakes, alignment and new tires.

-heater core is currently bypassed. Mechanic quoted her at $600 to replace it.

-Cosmetically, paint is salvageable, body straight save for dent in rear quarter panel. Black trim needs repainting. (though not really, it's a Volvo)

-Needs new windshield, one taillight, one side marker and one foglight replaced.

-interior looks like its seen better days but could be worse. Upholstery is torn, missing upholstery on door panels. Dash is cracked and pass side knee bolster is hanging off.

-Will need new brakes, alignment and new tires almost immediately

I know nothing about the engine or suspension but I plan on testing it this weekend.

Any Volvo experts in SD wanna join me?

These cars are FAR better then the 240 series. Stout, reliable powertrains and VERY durable.

The downside is EVERYTHING ELSE! you will wish you bought a cheap e30 instead of the LOLVO. The suspension, interior quality (or lack thereof), shitty electronics and poor overall build quality are just some of the fun of going LOLVO over anything from Germany.

So in conclusion....BUY IT ASAP! It's an awesome car!!!!
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

Its fuck ugly like all volvos, that's not ignorance that's a fact. You know what run forever honda civics and those cars are cursed here too.

My real question is why get another car, do you want to mod your e30 or do want to have a car for every day of the week; in which case I'd rather ride a bike than a volvo
