my cat had a arm that looked broken, holding it out to the side but it was just a dilocated sholder. Vet popped it back in and was good to run around a week later but he has a limp now.

glad to hear your pup is alright.

we have a certain vet we go to, my mom has been going there for over 21 years, he has a decent sized house and the whole basement is a vet office. So if something is really wrong we call (no matter what time) and he will wake up for anyone to bring their dog there. Of course it costs more but he isn't arrogant about it, he's the best vet I have ever met, unfortunately he is retiring this year or next year.

Glad to hear good news on your dog. It's strange, because my dog hurt his back leg Saturday afternoon. I drove to my brother's house (about an hour from home) for my little sister's wedding shower/stock the bar party. My mom loves my little dachshund and she was going to dog sit Saturday night so we could drink a little. He is literally addicted to a tennis ball. I decided to play fetch a little when I was there. After only about 2 throws he yelps and just lays there. Freaked me out. I've had him about a year and love him to death (he's 5 yrs old). I run over and he's still trying to get the ball. Lol. I touched his back leg and he yelp's in pain again. He finally got up and walked a little limping a little at first, then getting better. I stayed the night at my brother's house because we were eating Easter dinner there the next day. I go to my mom's house to shower and see how my dog was doing. He's just laying on the bed looking miserable. I figured it had to be a strain because he could walk around fine just not jump and run around like he normally does. I called my emergency vet and she tells me to give him a children's aspirin and take him to the vet Monday morning if he wasn't feeling better. I didn't even stay for Easter dinner. Just took him home to rest and he layed in his bed all day. Wake up this morning and he's doing a lot better and was even a little better when I got home from work, so I haven't taken him to the vet yet. So hopefully it will just turn out to really be a strain after all. I guess I need to build him a "handicable" ramp for the back porch so he want have to go up and down the steps. :D

            Beautiful dog.

I knew an Akita once, he became a best friend away from home. Great dogs, take good care of her. Glad to hear she is ok.

Lol that is pretty interesting. I literally wanted to just take her to the vet right away in the middle of spending time with our company. But we actualy havent taken Nikita to the vet yet either. were seeing if its just a strain too. She is still refusing to use that leg at all, but i can tell she isnt afraid of bending it certain ways, so shes becoming more confident with it. Shes also been on pain meds and anti inflammatory that the doctor gave us last night, so i can tell its helping.
Only problem is she has only had one feeding today, when she normally has two. Im hoping its some side effect of the meds or something, but if she dosent progress with her situation, then we will take her to the vet.

Watch out if they gave her Rimdyl, any vomiting or diarrhea is cause to stop giving it to her. That stuff can do some serious damage if the dog has a bad reaction.

Don't get me wrong, I have a 13 year lab and she takes it every day. However not all dogs respond well to it so it is good to know the risks.

I need to check exactly what she's taking right now. I'm pretty sure it's not that. But I have noticed she is not eating much since then. I'm assuming it's the anti inflammatory medicine she's taking since the pain killer she's taking is equivalent to children's aspirin, at lease that's one of the girls there said.

my dog started whining a while back when she had to get up from laying down for a while. in the morning it was really bad. Turned out to be just arthritis, the vet gave her rhimadyl and it has been a game changer for her. I love my dog too man, it sucks seeing someone in pain.

Akita's are absolutely amazing dogs. I don't think you'll ever find a dog more loyal/respectful. Now I have a shiba inu who seems to get more akita-like as he gets older, but still a little devil. Glad to hear your dogs ok!
