    My attachment to my dog.

So I feel like I need to let this out somehow, but I also want to see if anyone knows anything about dogs to help me out here.

My dog has been in my family for pretty much as long as i can remember. Shes a white Akita named Nikita and I love her to death. Shes always been there and has had unconditional love for me and my family. One of the most obedient and loyal dogs ever.

So today being Easter, my family and I had some friends over to celebrate and have a cook out. Everything was fantastic. My dad cooked ribs, we acted like little kids and played childish games, and we had some great conversations between each other. But during all that I looked out the window and saw Nikita refusing to use one of her back legs, so I immediately ran outside to her and check what had happened. My dad had let her out minutes before, so were not sure how she hurt her leg. After spending 10 minutes slowly helping her up the stairs, I noticed two little marks on that leg and in my opinion, I think she got bit by a snake, since as our company walked to the front door, they claimed to see a snake near. I figured we didnt want to ruin our time with the friends we had over, so i just gave her some water and had her lay down and just rest.
After checking on her many times, there were no changes in the way she was acting or feeling, so if she did get bit by a snake, then it probably was not venomous. My family started to believe maybe she just hurt her leg in some way.

To speed this up, shes still refusing to even use that leg and can barely walk. She dangles the leg, but she keeps trying to move around as a lot, as she normally does.

So what do you guys think? Sprain? Bite?

Im taking her to the vet tomorrow to have them look at it. As weird as this may sound, I feel sick just thinking about the way she is. It hurts me to see her like this. Usually when she gets hurt, she just gets right back up. She has gotten in fights with male dogs and still keeps going.
I freaking love this dog. Shes family. This sucks.
I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.

Pets get old and don't really look like your grandparents...she maybe broke a hip..who knows. I just lost an old dog. We made her comfortable and gave her good things to eat. I hope you have a lot of good time left.

I feel you man, it's hard when you see your dog in pain! My dog was just spayed and it was just so sad seeing her miserable and throwing up from the anesthesia. I felt so bad for her..I hope your dog has a speedy recovery!

So my family and I couldn't wait til tomorrow. We're at an emergency clinic right now waiting for a doctor to come and check her out. I have a test tomorrow and I should be studying for it right now, but it's hard to do that knowing she's like this.

I feel yah. I had to make a very difficult decision to have my dog put down. It's the hardest decision I've ever done.

fuc the test. i grew up with akitas my whole life, best dogs ever. my last dog ate a rock and didn't eat/drink anything for four days. i had to yell at my mom to take him to the vet(he's fine now). when somethings wrong with a dog, the severity is usually pretty evident from the way the dog is reacting. hope all is well.

I know where you are you are comming from. When my rotti was about 2 he got flesh eating bacteria. His paw swelled up to the size of my fist and was starting to split the skin.

My regular vet was closed for vacation so I took him to another vet who could not diag it. Then they sent me to a specialist vet where he had to stay for almost 2 months. I would make the 15 mile trip to see him every two days. 4k later I got him back. He just has a little bald spot where he has a scar.

luckily I had a good job and a platinum card at the time.

Good choice not waiting to take her to the vet.

vet asap if the dog means anything to you.

if a snake bit your arm and you couldnt move it, would you just stay at home?

                    UPDATE!
Doctor said its not a snake bite! He thinks she either stained her knee really bad, or tore a ligament. We can't figure out which cause she's really sensitive to bending her knee. We're gonna put her on some pain meds tonight and take her to our vet in the morning. Probably gonna do some X-rays too.
I feel so much better finding out what's wrong. Thank god there are emergency clinics and good animal doctors here.

Thanks for all the support guys. It's pretty cool knowing I can get some words of encouragement from BMW enthusiasts.

My bully was like that but he happen to have strained something. He's all good now but he is in a little bit of shock and sometimes doesn't want to put full pressure on that leg.

My sisters little chuhwawa (what ever the spelling) is starting to get hip dysplasia, which really scares me because it's a therapy dog for her.

She, my sister, was diagnosed with few debilitating diseases at a young age bringing her career as a ballerina to an arrupt end. She went threw great depression after not being able to drive, hold a steady job, or be athletic anymore. This little dog has brought her so much joy and helped her in ways nobody else could when she's been at her sickest or depressed.

It's amazing what dogs can do

Just fyi, any poisonous snake bite would have spread relatively quickly anew you would have seen a loss of body functions. Seeing as it stayed around a centralized area, it was an obvious strain or fracture.

Good to here that he/she is alright.
