Yeah, I had the standard FF "tweaks" done, and FireTune picked up the speed even more. Nice find, Josh.
As for the FF vs. IE battle, I will forever use FireFox. IE has given me nothing but problems.
As for Windows vs. Mac, I'm highly considering a Powerbook as my next computer purchase. :)

I'm just running straight FF 1.0.6 and love it. I can customize it, it isn't as annoying about popping popups as IE6, and I can see every website fine except for the ActiveX ones. It doesn't crash on my computer so if you are having thsoe kind of issues Charlie then you need to look at your registry cos FF isn't to blame for that. I have it installed on atleast 6 of my own computers between work and home and it never crashes. I can see Turner Motorsport just fine... any website as long as it isn't laden with ActiveX scripting. I can stream media fine with it... nothing really jumps out at me and as I said I am not running any optimization things. I also started using thunderbird (mozilla's email app) and prefer it a million times over Outlook Express
I also just like staying away from main stream apps because as they say "the highest nail gets hit first". That means Trillian over AIM, and FF/TB over IE/OE. I also use AVG Free Edition anti-virus which rocks a million times over McAfee and Norton.

I actualy went through and manually removed all of the "firefox" entries, including the 10-15 that their uninstall program didn't. Once I removed everything firefox put in and reinstalled for a third time, it runs. This means that FF pooched itself.
It runs again, but still won't handle scripting for crap, and is still slower than IE.
I've run IE for years, and have yet to be hit by any of these spyware worms. I keep my system patched, I run spybot once every couple of weeks, and I don't hit "yes" on crap. There's no bit torrent, KazaAAA, WinMX or any of those other piracy programs on my comp, so the real cause of most people's "IE" problems aren't present.

You sound quite competent with computers so I'm not trying to insult you... I have just installed FF on several different computers (3 laptops [IBM, Acer, VPMatrix] to desktops[2 customs, 2 dells], pentium to celeron to AMD, WinXP Pro to WinXP Home to FreeBSD) and have had absolutely zero problems with it, and my speed with FF is just as quick if not faster than IE.
I agree with you that most IE problems are caused by stupid people... thats why I won't let my wife run IE and why my in-law's computers are dying. I don't even bother trying to help them anymore. They always hit "yes" and never download patches. Stupid people make me sad and angry...
