    Just buy any laptop in your price range that is from a reputable company. I've always had good luck with Dell and Asus; moderate luck with Toshiba.

    What you want to do can be handled easily by virtually any new computer. Get one with the right sized screen and you shouldn't have any problems. PLus, you can always upgrade RAM and hard drive yourself if you need to, it's really easy.
