If they're not motivated to replace it now then I highly doubt spite will become the determining factor. Besides, they probably won't even notice. When they do they'll be like "Oh hey I thought this was torn. Wait...why am I thinking bout this screen? Back to internet porn."

Like F4 said its just a screen its not a big deal, close your blinds if it bugs you that much. Its not your house so dont worry about it, its not like the shutters a are falling off of it or the roof is caving in.

I live in an older neighborhood with no HOA and I've called code enforcement on people before. Get your fucking shit together, keeping a house looking decent for the good of the neighborhood isn't that hard.

My property is MINE yours is YOURS. If I want to leave shit in my yard and let my front porch fall off my house that is my prerogative (not that I would). As its your prerogative too keep your grass precisely 1 1/4 inches long and sweep the dust from your drive way every day.

I would never live in a HOA nor a place that has a covenant as to what I can do with MY PROPERTY. The Township/state is more than enough regulation on what I can do with MY PROPERTY. Sorry you should know I am big individual property rights, and this is just one facet of them

My choice is not on there. Call property standards and report them. They are most likely in violation. Neighbors are a tricky bunch. This coming from a 8yr home owner.

Its nothing to do with hard core right wing, its Property rights and more libertarian than anything.

When you buy property its yours to do with as YOU see fit (unless you have Covenants attached to the deed) Not as your neighbors see fit. I totally get why you might be pissed that a ass hat with 43 junk cars in the yard and the 4 different siding colors and needs the a roof an so on. I do get it, and I would suggest you sell and go buy in a strict HOA where you have more control over what your neighbors can do with their property and them over yours sounds like you would be happier there.

I had a tree that was overgrown and getting close to the neighbor's roof. I had been meaning to take care of it for a while but I didn't have a chain saw or a ladder tall enough. Come out one day and my neighbor is on his giant ladder with chain saw getting the branches that were hanging over. I wasn't offended, he said it wasn't a big deal since he had the equipment and didn't want the leaves coming down on his newer roof. Ended up helping me trim the entire tree and loaded the cut up branches into his truck which he took to the waste center on his dime, he refused to let me pay for it.

Guess it depends on the person, obviously I wouldn't be offended if someone mentioned a torn up screen to me. Hell if they helped me fix it, I'd be buying them a beer. Just because you might be busy or don't care, you have a responsibility to keep up your neighborhood.

If you want your freedom to do what you want with your house further taken away, you should have bought a house in a HOA.

If you want the freedom of not having a HOA then put up with your neighbors screen. It's their house not yours. I would just put up a tall hedge or line of trees.

Our neighbor decided to renovate his house two years ago and tore all of the siding off, shingles off and basically the whole property apart.

It's still apart.
