Soft Body Physics, Crytek 3. Must watch.

Thought I should post this up. It has only been up for 24hours and allready has half a million views. I have been apart of the Rigs of Rods community for sometime now, if you want to start playing around with soft body physics then download RoR free from

Rigs of Rods is a free and open source vehicle simulator that uses soft-body physics to simulate the motion destruction and deformation of vehicles.

The graphics are not as nice as in the video. Because the video is what the developers are working on. Anyways have fun guys.

I love this shit so much. I remember when Driver first came out with awesome "realistic"-looking damage way back in the day. Then carmageddon. But this is amazing.

I remember stumbling upon rigs of rods a year or two ago and thinking it was pretty cool, but needed some polishing. This demo seems really solid so far.

Yeh it dose need some polishing, but it is a free open source game so you can't be to critical.

Hopefully this will be the next big step. Question is when will it happen.

Posted this in the Forza thread. I hope it gets implemented there somehow. Ultra-realistic suspension sound nice...

BeamNG is propriatry plugin software for softbody phyisics for games engines like Crytek. It is owned by the RoR developers. It is a demo of the technology not a game.

But this shows that it is now possible for Rigs Of Rods to be converted to the Crytek engine. Since the Crytek engine is free for non commercial products like Rigs Of Rods there is a high probability that it will be converted to the Crytek engine. This is all here say but seems like a probably path.

Ahhh, I see. So its a separate venture/ development by the people behind RoR? Makes sense, it looks awesome. Hopefully it makes it into RoR.

As a long time player on RoR, I'd say this is a huge step in physics and realism, the current engine is somewhat good, love the crash effects but this one blows it out of the water, looking forward to this concept being an actual release

Why do the front fenders act like they're held on with bubble gum? Pretty cool other than that though.
