    Calling All PC Geeks

Basically I'm working with an HP P6616f I got for Christmas in 2009. I've done some upgrades since then- running 10g ram, 2 TB hard drive, etc. I just got Diablo so I'm in the process of upgrading my video card.

I bought two new 24" Dell LED monitors (huge sale) and an Ati radeon 6770 XFX so I could run both monitors at the same time. My problem is that the video card requires a minimum power supply of 450w and my computer came with a measly 250w.

I was looking at the Corsair 600w but was curious about compatibility, how difficult it would be to install (primarily) and quality.

    Any input is appreciated!

Corsair is good stuff. Silverstone is top notch as well. Any 650W will be fine though, you arent loading it much at all

Compatibility all depends on the case's form factor... atx is standard if I dont recall.

All the plugs are universal so that should be fine. I would double check the motherboard's power plug though (if it is a 20 or 24 or whatever)

10G ram is an odd sum.

Corsair is good shit. That psu has good real world performance. Only thing to watch out for is the physical size of the current psu - some manufacturers make the psu a weird size. If you post up a photo of thee psu in the case we'll be able to double check that for ya

EDIT: My apologies, that PSU is absolute shit, judging by the newegg reviews. That OCZ that 5toes linked doesn't look too bad, a few bad reviews about product support though. My personal recomendation would be http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139012, have owned one for the past year, no issues whatsoever. It delivers good, clean power too.

The thing to be aware of with PSU's is regardless of the brand, typically all the cheaper variants have their circuitry made by one of the cheap Chinese companies, so avoid them. Corsair, Cooler Master, Seasonic, OCZ, Silverstone all make good mid to high range PSU's, and are all recognized brands.

Be prepared to spend good money on a PSU, cheap shit will just cost in the long run.

I have a tx750W corsair from 4 years ago. I rarely turn my computer off and it still works likes a champ. I dont load it much though... just a wimpy gpu and 5 or so fans and one HDD

I beg to differ on the corsair psu. They used to make good stuff, but not any more. We were using them for 12 computers in the past year, and i have had to replace 8 of them so far. Our rigs that use seasonic psu's are running great. You can get them on good deals most of the time.

Correct. It was 8, my mistake. It came with an empty slot and my buddy threw in a DDR3 2GB making it 8 total. I remember asking him to throw a 4 in there but he said you want them all to be equal sizes.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about a $20-$50 price difference on the ones you guys suggested- buy nice or buy twice.
