My brother just left Tucson Az to move to aurora co. He's home sick but partially anti social. What helps is he works a lot. He will be fine. If I didn't have a gf in college and a daughter I'd do the same thing.

Could be this, I've lived all over NJ before moving to several spots in FL (close to each other) but I think my solid relationship of 4 years is abruptly coming to an end. Something I really don't want to discuss on a public forum but maybe "escapism" is it. It feels better to even just think about just leaving crap behind and starting fresh somewhere.

It's interesting to see most everyone's move went well. :)

            jumping in.
i grew up impoverished, way way below the poverty level. and i've been employed since 12, and contributed to a family of assholes who are shit for people.

at 16, i up and left with 50 bucks in my pocket, and a check for almost $200. bucks..so, with less then 250, i left.

actually, traveled extensively on very little, in a beat up datsun, all my worldly posessions fit inside a b210 2door coupe.

i had a toolbox, a rubber piggy bank (which was stolen), and books.

i lived all over the U.S., went down to mexico a bunch, up to alaska, the west coast (cali, orei, and wa) before i saw enough to know i love the west coast lifestyle the best.

the east coast really sucks, (for poor people anyway), and the south is full of idiots that make retards look like professors...(i met a 18yo girl who didn't know right from her fucking left...stupid stupid).

if you do it, sell as much crap as you can. you will always get it back, and itll be newer or better.

i definately advise to travel, and find the location that speaks to you, whether it be nice roads, or local laws that steer your sails, you should at least venture out...

and if you don't find anything better, you always have the place you started, in my case, i couldn't find a place any worse, so they were all better.

I up and left my life in Brooklyn for California. I left all my family and friends, a REALLY good job, lots of music gigs and all my connections.

It has worked out. I'm a much happier person. I'm no longer a rage filled anger farm, I'm in the best physical shape of my life, and I'm slowly building a rep out in the Socal music scene.

It did take me a couple of back and forths to finalize my decision though. Things didn't work out at first, drove back to NY, realized I didn't want to be there. So I made all the right moves this time to ensure I settled in properly. Now I'm here and now I'm happy.

I really want to move as well. I live in Oregon but i want to go to California. I have a house and a good job so that's what is keeping me where I am. I think in two years I'll up and go.

I quit a job I've had for 6 years to move to Portland. I sold my car and most of my shit. My wife is there already and I'm driving a uhaul up a week from today. I do not have a job there yet but she does. I'm excited, nervous, hopeful....basically every emotion. I'm moving from extreme comfort and stability into the absolute unknown - but it's where I want to live. I just hope I get a job quickly.

Last September i was talking about moving to Florida so my friend up and quit his job and three days later we were on our way. I had fun, i ended up going to school and working 40hrs a week so it wasn't as great as it could have been. Needless to say i moved back 8 months later. I missed my GF/friends/family

                                To the OP

If you dont' do it now, you will only regret NOT doing it when you had the chance. If you dont' you'll find yourself doing things to "root" yourself into your surroundings, like having kids, buying useless stuff and the years (and your youth) will just fly by.

I took a chance years ago and moved From Regina, Sask. to Calgary AB. Boy was it hard at first, no family (always mooching money and bitching about stupid stuff), no friends (didn't hang out with them much anyway as they were really ghey pussies).

When I finally found my "groove" in Calgary, I found myself making choices with my life, taking trips and opportunities I only dreamed of when I was always surrounded by a bunch of lifeless fags.

Now we are all in our early 30's and while they are idly watching their youth and sence of fun being dragged out of them by their kids, i get to live a life child-free, and able to do whatever with my GF of 10 years as an actor and doing voice overs...the best part about it is, is I get to act like a kid and actually get paid for it.

Sure my life isn't conventional, but this is exactly the lifestyle I dreamed of as a kid. I never wanted what everyone else had....it just seemed too "easy" to obtain, therefore not worth having.

Overall, do what you want. but it's YOU who's ultimatly responsible for your actions in the end.

There's one bit of advise I got from one of my university profs. that I still hold very close to me when making life-changing decisions: "When your objectives are clear, your decisions are easy"
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!
