Microsofts Ipad Killer

The market is retarded.
The PS3 is far superior in terms of performance and capabilities than the X Box 360. The only reason I have an X Box is because it's better online, only due to the stupidity of the average gamer. If the PS3 had a greater share of the market, the online experience would improve and I'd happily sell my cheaply made POS X Box.Leave a comment:

It looks interesting - when it was called "surface", I was hoping it had something to do with that really cool research project they had with a table that had a special display on it that reacted to objects etc.
I think perhaps calling it an "ipad" killer isn't a good choice. let the device stand on it's own. and frankly, I love my smartphone, but damn it's a pain in the ass using the soft keyboard all the time.
the market says you're wrong.Leave a comment:

It wouldn't have taken much to run full OSX, other than giving up great battery life, low weight, low heat, instant on, and low price. That was worded poorly I suppose. My point is, its so very underpowered, at least the earlier versions I used. To me, It couldn't have taken much more to at least run a slimmed down version of the current to that time Mac OS. I was simply let down by the confined use. Its just a large iPod in my eyes.
I agree that it would be nice if Apple would make a MacBook tablet, but that is unlikely. The reason that they will not do that is because a) desktop apps are fucking terrible on a tablet (use a VNC client for more than 5 minutes and it gets old FAST) and b) product line confusion. Most people are, frankly, too dumb to figure out what the right device for them is, and having a "better" tablet option would please a small number of people while confusing the shit out of others.Leave a comment:

Microsoft have never done anything well. I doubt this will be their turning point.Leave a comment:

#NailontheheadI build my PC's, mod my laptops and have a certificate in network administration, yet I use my iPad for 80% of my web browsing. Don't knock it till you've lived with it - you'll soon realize how great of a trade off the amazing mobility is vs. having 24 tabs open and three chat services running at all times. Obviously you can't design websites or photoshop dongs into friends pictures with it, but nobody said you need to scrap your PC altogether.
your 15..
You don't need an iPad..
That's why you hated it..
Frankly, I don't need one either, but being able to use my IPad as my school notebook instead of lugging around a big binder is amazing; then I can just send my notes through email and print them out on my PC.
The majority of of people who dis on Apple products just don't get it. You don't own an Apple product to play WoW, Runescape, and Minecraft while photoshopping your butt onto someone's face, then watching video reactions of your reacting to that photoshop, then launching nuclear missiles from your backwards forwards reverse compatible HDM3 cable and streaming 7 videos to 4 TVs at one time. Honestly, people don't need half of what phone/technological companies are pushing out today as "new technologies".
While I applaud Microsofts effort, and I very well buy one myself; it still won't come anywhere close to touching the iPad.Leave a comment:

Let me start this by saying that I absolutely despise iPads. I had one for a while. Fucking hated it.
But...let's count how many iPhone/iPod/iPad killers have actually killed the iPhone/iPod/iPad...oh yeah none. How many have there been? Who knows. I have a very strong feeling that this is going nowhere.Leave a comment:

At what point did Apple lead you to believe they had any interest in the enterprise level market? That is Microsoft's game, people and companies use Apple products despite the shortcomings because they want to use them. Apple devices have been successful in the enterprise level because people find a way to make them, no thanks to Apple themselves. I absolutely agree that their enterprise functions are half baked but it doesn't matter.iPad fanboys starting to get butt hurt.
Apple is missing the big picture like it did years ago. Its current enterprise integration and security capabilities are a joke. This is why 99% of the smartphones I issue at my job are still BlackBerrys.
If MS can pull off a consumer friendly tablet that can also integrate into a secure enterprise domain then I see many corporations switching over the the MS tablet since Android and iPad tablets just don't have OSs built for full scale enterprise deployment.
Long term.. users want simple transition from professional to personal use. This is why Windows was so successful. Apple has tailored most of its products to consumers and half baked its enterprise functions.
I've been running some of the newer Windows based tablets with Windows 8 preview edition and it is awesome so far. OS is clearly optimized for touch screen tablet use and if they can gain some market share (app development), it will do well.
iPad killer though? Not a chance, people who want an iPad are only gonna get that. Windows fans will get a Windows 8 tablet, the market will support both.Leave a comment:
