I didn't steal anything. My friend stole a computer and brought it to me to wipe out the hard drive. He said it was acting up, so I said i would fix it (I didnt know it was stolen). 5 minutes later, cops are at my door, and I go to jail. But like I said, I know I broke the law.

10 days in jail, 50 hours of community service, 5 years probation and $5000 in fees for a stolen computer in your house? What exactly were you charged with?...I'm assuming breaking and entering, felony theft if it was valued over a certain amount, but what else?

I can't imagine GA laws being more harsh than CA laws. A close friend of mine was arrested for being in possession of 5lbs of processed marijuana, 180 plants, a bullet (not a gun) and he was ON probation already. He was held without bail, and the DA wanted to give him 10 years. My mother was his legal representative and got him out of county jail in a MONTH before he was transferred to San Quentin. His probation was extended 3 years, no fines except for a $50,000 loss on the destroyed product, and $15,000 in legal fees.

I think the OP is leaving out major details in his story. I also believe that you did indeed commit the crime. Why? Because Ive heard plenty of guilty criminals swear on their mothers lives that they were innocent when the evidence conclusively proved otherwise.

I was charged with theft by taking, Possesion of stolen property, theft by receiving, and burglary. I had a lawyer but he was terrible. I pled first offenders so it would eventually be expunged of my record. The cops said they had a video of me taking the computer, and i was able to watch it, It was a video of me skating in front of the school a month before it was broken in to.

As for the ones who think I did it, it doesnt bother me, most people think I did do it, I have gotten use to the fact that in the eyes of society, I am a criminal. This has been a learning experience for me and now I'm terrified to break the law.
