mikeedler: No, this is definitely a E30 function. :) I have the wiring diagram in front of mine. There is a chime for the ignition key and the seatbelt warning. The wire for the ignition key warning gets the ground signal from the door jamb switch if the door is opened and the key is still in the ignition switch.
As I saw that i had a look at the electronic spare parts catalog. What i found out was that the switch and the housing is only attached in the US models of the E30. That's why I'm asking.
