The guy needs him because, why would a dealership continue to sell him a car if he's going to take that car to China and profit off of it..? If you have worked for any sort of retailer, one thing that they don't allow is selling high value items to a reseller. By hiring someone else to sign, he can still get his cars even though his name is blacklisted by that dealership. Like I said, tax has been paid, you are under a agent contact for the company, it will state that you received money to purchase a car for the company in detail. You are not the owner nor are you liable for any taxes or fees for the car. And when it comes time to getting paid, you are paid in cash. So really speaking, there is no way for the irs to track you down for this whatsoever. As much as it sounds sketchy, this is real and people have been doing it for a while.

Some people are willing to take risks, some aren't. This is a gray area of the law that some people won't go near. From a moral perspective it seems obvious but if you're afraid of society (or a Mercedes dealership) coming after you, stay home.

It may or may not be a scam. I have actually done this before for a friend. What we would do is go to the dealership and all you have to do is sign the papers saying you are buying this car. What they are doing is taking this car and importing it to china to sell for a much much higher price! It is not tax evasion since you are paying the car upfront in cash and the taxes are included. Nothing is illegal about it, the only thing is you might get blacklisted from that dealership for a year or so depending on how many times you do it.

Yeah, I mean once in a while, it's not a big deal. It's a fairly quick 500 bucks to make. Long as you don't plan on buying a MB in the future from that place.

This is more or less exactly what it was. I may actually still do it, but they're waiting on the 2013 Mercedes to hit the showrooms in late August before they start buying. Also I literally just got back from an interview, got a job at the local Toyota dealership selling cars, so this would just be a part time gig to make a little extra money.

Hey man! I'm glad you found my Craigslist ad! I was gonna reply to your email, but I recently had my phone confiscated..

I wanted to let you know where you could find the first few cars I wanted you to pick up. My last few hires weren't as successful, but you sound promising. I usually see these nice looking M3s parked on the street while passing by the corner of Main near the alley; supposedly that spot has a really nice bakery. Anyway, just talk to the owner of the bake shop and see if he'll sell his M3s for $2K a pop. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but I heard his father just passed away, and I'm sure he's in mourning, so don't try overly hard to get the cars; I don't think he has much constitution to deal with the stress.

I pass by there like 2-3 times a week and lately the M3s haven't been parked outside, but I think the last time I passed by (it was like friday afternoon, and I saw one of my previous hires and his doofy son trying to swindle the cars out from under me!), they were there.
