    Livin' like it's 1843.

    Yeah, I got no electricity.

    Since 8pm Friday.

    It's not funny anymore.

Everyone around me had power. I have trees in the yard to pick up. This has been my afternoon entertainment.

Just FYI, I'm at work now...we have power.

All it was was a little windstorm, and now this. No power for 4 days. Before you tell me to suck it up, I have. I'm livin' the dream. No hot water. Have to take the laundry, etc to my sister's house to get them clean.

......and the staging ground for the power companies is less than a mile from me. SRSLY.

Everyone with power keeps saying to empathize with people who don't have power or AC all the time.

I'm living it bitch. Go back to your hot showers and kitchen appliances. Go back to your un-spoiled food in your freezers. Go back to your lit basements and TVs.

Worst part? No power = no lift or air compressor = no getting shit done. It's just too hot too.

I go home. Pick up trees (a massive 30 year old willow tree came down across the driveway, plus four or five maples...one into the pool), check the gas on the generator, and sit at home in the dark waiting to get tired and go to sleep.

    Summary:

Slammin' got no power for 4 days. Shit sucks ass. Cool story bro.

    /rant.

I was without power for over a week with hurricane Charley and have friends who have been out of power due to flooding in NJ last year I think. Some houses took a LOT longer to get power back than others.

Shit sucks, esp without A/C. If I wanted to live without A/C and electricity I'd live in the woods. Tell those people to stfu.

      On a side note, f you for having a lift/air compressor. I wrench like it's 1843 :hitler:

Here's my story from the storm.

I put a load of whites in sunday night along with my khakis for work. I'm not talking about a few pairs. When I do the laundry I do huge loads. I cram all of my dress pants into that bitch. I turn it on. I go to sleep.

I awake the next morning and notice my clocks had reset. I was like "oh wow the power must have flickered last night." Then it hits me. What if it flickered before the auto dry setting had chance to fully dry the load? It had. My pants were damp to the touch. I spent the next 3-4 minutes looking for another pair to wear. I didn't have any, so I said "fuck it" and went to work in shorts.

Hurricane Wilma took out electricity for 17 days. That was fun with 2 young children and a newborn. Lost 2 fridges and a freezer full of food, had to buy propane to heat up water for baths :(

                I feel your pain man.

AC? lol, 90% of the homes in western WA don't have AC.

But I feel your pain. A few years ago we had a bad storm and were without power for 5 days. It really fucking sucks. The worst part for me was the lack of hot water for showering. We ended up in a hotel for the last night.

Get a bunch of beer/liquor and drink yourself to sleep.

Had the same thing in Grottoes. The town didn't have power to the water supply and managed to run both tanks dry so no running water for a day.

Our neighbor has had power since Saturday, we just got ours back on yesterday. It took me everything I had to not shoot his garage light out haha.

WA is so close to Canadaland you don't need AC, lol.

This is probably the worst I've been through. Even after hurricanes roll through we'd have the power sooner.

Haha, yup. Seeing all the assholes on FB going,"YAY power is back on!" I wanna go to their houses and cut the lines.

Yeah, the west side of the mountains is a very mild climate compared to most parts of the country. Eastern WA is a completely different story though. When I watch the news and they show a heat map of the country, right now the entire country is struggling with heat and the map is covered in red aside from out little corner up here in the yellow. For the 4th and this weekend it is going to be mid-upper 70's and beautiful.

And I remember feeling the same exact feeling about my friends celebrating having power back. I ended up spending my evenings at friend's houses so I could shower and just charge my cell phone.

It fucking blows but you will survive it. And you'll come out of it with a new appreciation for what you have.

                          True.

Getting acclimated to it is the worst. Now, when it does come back on, I'm going to be all acclimated to living without power.

The week after I moved to VA herricane Isabel took out power for 2 weeks. I never even knew what 90* with 100% humidity was before then.

It pays to have a small generator in your arsenal.
