I am on the prowl for a new wrist watch.

    -self winding
    -relatively big dial(thanks turf)
-mechanical, I want to see all the gears and cogs doing würk

Throw me your suggestions, price doesnt matter I want to see everything from bargain to exclusive.

    It's a manual wind, but that's what I prefer.

    Also, it's a "dial" not a "face".

I have recently taken an interest in watches. I have a nice rolex, a tissot and the requisite g-shocks but my favorite have been the Seiko divers.

I have owned one of the mechanical SKX007 that I bought off of ebay for 50.00 bucks it was awesome.

But my favorite is this guy
      Looks good, tough and solar.

Fuck me 2ed post that has been lost of mine today after a lengthy time typing it

Op You want a skeleton dial or display back.

If budget is not an option then a Omega Speed master Broad Arrow with the 3313 self winding movement and a display back would be on my short list. But the 5500 dollar discounted street price and 7500 dollar MSRP can be kinda hard to swallow

If you are thinking budget. Then a Seiko with a 7s26 movement, from ebay and shipped to a guy in Tiwan I think to modify it to how you like an put a display back on it, should have about 500 in it all said and done. My DD watch is a Seiko SKX 007 and its great for the price point and Seiko is one of only a couple of watch manufacturers that sill engineers and builds all their own movements in house

Speaking of Seiko for about 650 or so you can get a seiko premier auto, that has a dial window to the movement and a display back IIRC. Those are available here in the US with out having to look too the gray market.

Apex, that one you have posted is a quartz not an auto ..........................................

here is a post of mine from a while back that will have some better more detailed info in it

I really like my Tag Heuer Carerra. Its a self-winding watch and you can see the gears through the back of it. They retail for 3900 but can certainly be found for less. I've had it for several years now and always get compliments on it wherever I go.

I really like that carrera but looking in the way of the gears being visible through the dial.

When I was in switzerland I bought myself a Hamilton Open Heart.
Hamilton is the leading brand for automatic watches. The Hamilton watches combine the American Spirit with the Swiss precision and latest technologies.

I got the black face with black leather strap and I really love the watch. It only has a 40mm face to it though, so it might be a little small for your taste. But it is fully auto and the skeletal face looks beautiful in person.
