E36 Hydroplaned. Charged with Reckless driving, What Do?

Long Story short I was driving home yesterday in a storm on a country road and the rear end of my e36 hydroplaned, spun me around, and I hit a fence.

Officer charged me with Reckless driving, but said he would tell the Judge to take it down to improper driving.

Is it worth it to lawyer up and make sure I don't get a criminal charge?

    WWR3VD?

"Wreckless driving"? You'll get off for sure. You had a wreck, and he charged you with "wreckless". Was the officer blind?

PS, your gonna enjoy your 12 months, aren't ya, Miata man....

Fight it. Fuck a lawyer. Ask him to work out a deal with you. If you have a decently clean record it shouldnt be a problem.

No tickets in the past 8 years, and no criminal history.

This is Virginia. Get a lawyer, or you could end up with jail time and/or a criminal record. Absolutely stupid not to hire a lawyer in these circumstances. You can NOT depend on the officer's good will, and you can depend even less upon the judge's.

I would lawyer up. Without a witness there is not way for it to stick.

Cops can write up whatever they want on a ticket but they have to provide evidence like anyone else in front of the judge. A good laywer can rip that apart.

Do you ever do any HPDEs or lapping? Maybe get a qualified instructor.to come testify about how a car will react in those conditions .

Ive done alot of Autocross but not any HPDE.

I'm pretty decent at driving, and there was nothing I could do. I was going 25mph around the turn and the drive wheel just lifted up and picked up the rear of the car, when it was set back down there was so much force on the front tires that I couldn't get any grip by trying to counter steer.

I was just trying to keep it from rolling since every fucking road is banked in Virginia.

How bad is the damage to the fence and car? Did you crash onto private property?
