    What are you 12? Stealing license plates is ethical and legal . Sure sounds to me like doing that will get your car fixed.

    I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. I agree insurance companies are a major pain, and will try to nickel and dime you, but enough members on here have proven that with persistence, one can get what they want.

        @ ohthejosh - To the eye, you may not see much damage when a painted urethane bumper has been pushed in. Wait a few weeks and you'll start noticing web-like cracks on the bumper. Basically when being pushed in, the primers under the paint have cracked, cracking paint over time. It might not look serious now, but it will get worst overt time, requiring complete stripping of the bumper and repaint. Sorry for your adventure. But people can't take responsibility for their behaviour and many think that bumpers are designed to bump...

          I wouldn't steal it, just turn it upside down and bolt it back on.

            Yea my parents car got "bumped" and all the paint is flaking off now, although the overall shape of the bumper itself is still fine.

            Now I can't say if I would like to hope for it to flake or not to flake LOL. I guess it all depends on what the insurance decides on what to do. They have USAA if that matters one bit, they seem to be quick and easy to deal with so lets hope they do the right thing here. Otherwise my insurance Geico has agreed to pursue this claim through if USAA sees that their insured is not at fault. So I will ride this rollercoaster through the ups downs and loops.

              According to the picture you showed, the driver of the Prius tried to be "as close" as possible to your bumper because half of the Prius is in a prohibited parking zone. It won't be difficult to prove that driver's bad judgement. If you have a picture of how close you are to the car in front of you, it can inevitably prove that you didn't "seaked in" and that it is the car behind you (the Prius) that squeezed you. Not the opposite. Wait a week or two and you'll see cracks starting to form on your bumper. ;-(

                I have usaa. They've always been excellent when i've had issues. Hopefully they are good for you on the other side as well. I'd expect things will go smoothly, good luck with it all.

                  Update;

                  I got a call back from USAA and they said they will cover the cost but the estimate said a repair and not a replacement. They estimated it at 770. I would like it to be replaced to be honest, I dont wanna have to deal with insurance incase the repairs weren't all that great.

                  I need advice on how to go about requesting a new bumper versus just getting it 'sanded' or what ever they do.

                    Did they give you warranty info? Try asking oliver for info on plastic repair. He said that his shop doesn't do plastics repair, but didn't seem to have anything against it.

                      work with your adjuster and communicate that you want to retain sale value and in order to do that and they will likely replace it

                        Take it to a body shop you trust and have them file another invoice to the insurance company.

                          ^I should have expanded on that.
                          In My previous accident, I got rear ended. The ins. Co. sent out an estimator and the estimated the damage at $1100. They wrote me a check at my request because I wanted to goto a shop of my choice. At the shop, they estimated it for higher because there was damage not in the original estimate. The ins. company wrote me another check for the difference.

                            Seems pretty straight forward. I hope it goes as smoothly as yours did and as smoothly as the process has been so far for me.

                              A little late, but in response to the first post:

                              F*cktard's produce f*cktard-offspring, it's a neverending cycle.

                              On a sidenote, my neighbor across the street has a Prius, and the f*cktard gene...go figure. He's also a morbidly obese, Porsche Cayenne-owning douchebag(who has yet to show me his deed to the road), 2-pack a day smoking DOCTOR whose wife just left his sorry ass.
