Pay taxes? Ever try and add a deck to your house? There are many regulations in life. Make sure your hard work will be directed wisely.

For the planter boxes you could make the bottom out of half a 6in diameter PVC pipe. Lay it in there curve facing down, drill in small holes and lay gravel and dirt on top. Would not rot like wood does.

use a couple of large PVC pipes at the bottom of the planter box: drill holes all down it, sink in the dirt, cover with gravel before adding soil on top. This will provide good drainage to the planter box preventing it from flooding/washing out. I'll try to find a video/pictures

So obviously I need pressure treated 4x4's cause they will be in the ground, but what about the sides of the planter box? I figure stacked 2X4s will work..? but do they need to be pressure treated as well? I am thinking not.. I will have a good coat of stain on them
