This whole thread concept relatively goes against what the Eagle Scout project is all about...

      Just saying...

Really? I am trying to get some ideas, the project is about leading others, and helping an organization.

Pay taxes? Ever try and add a deck to your house? There are many regulations in life. Make sure your hard work will be directed wisely.

use a couple of large PVC pipes at the bottom of the planter box: drill holes all down it, sink in the dirt, cover with gravel before adding soil on top. This will provide good drainage to the planter box preventing it from flooding/washing out. I'll try to find a video/pictures

                      Call 811 before/if you dig.

Look at some of the wsbdot standard plans for some ideas.

Something like this might be all you need for your project. Just plant some stuff in the box's.

I was going to vote that you go to the local strip club and help single mothers for your project. But it appears that you've got this. Good luck man

So obviously I need pressure treated 4x4's cause they will be in the ground, but what about the sides of the planter box? I figure stacked 2X4s will work..? but do they need to be pressure treated as well? I am thinking not.. I will have a good coat of stain on them
