yeah, its ultra mega super kaleidoscope buggy, the zombies zig zag at you, you cant run and shoot, and all the other players are assholes but its good.

once arma 3 comes out it will have day z on it and it will be much more polished.

also, if you need a sweet comp, i think someone's selling one in the random stuff for sale. for $800 its a little dated equipment but still legit as fuuuuck

i dont think it will work. otherwise i would have done it. also look into something called Six Loader. it will get you into games much faster

Apparently it will work with the free version and the Operation Arrowhead expansion, but you might as well buy Combined Operations, not that much more and I'm sure it's easier to setup.

Played it. Didn't like it.

Spent 90% of the time running around aimlessly. Found a crowbar but couldn't use it. Game is supposed to be ultra realistic but you can't jump, and you can sprint forever.

You need to learn the controls, and change their bindings a bit before jumping into the game, otherwise you're going to get frustrated. You should also go into the trainer and hop in a car/helicopter and explore Chern so you actually know where enterable buildings/deer towers/etc are (the only places weapons spawn)...if you just jump in and run around aimlessly you're going to have an unpleasant experience.

There is a "vault" button. To use a crowbar/hatchet you need to open your bag 'g' right click and click move off belt. Melee combat is...hilariously bad.



Also I should say, the game is only fun for the first...hour or two. Once you have a nice weapon loadout there is really nothing else to do but banditry, or dying. Eventually you're going to learn where everything is and all you'll do after respawning is sprint through the woods to chern/electro, run the same loop through the city grabbing supplies and head to a military base.

You can repair veicles and helicopters, but those usally get snatched up pretty quickly, and you'll never get one unless you're playing with a pretty large group and are on the ball after server restarts...or happen to loot someone's camp.

Oh, and it's an alpha mod. Don't expect BF3 polish. Shit jumps around, zombies die a second after being shot. You will get frustrated by a random death. There are cheating problems.

Play on a Veteran/Expert server. On recruit/normal servers you can see player's names by having your crosshairs close to their character. Also 3rd person pussies who sit at corners. On recruit servers you can see white circles on screen that indicate players or zombies. If you play on recruit/normal servers as a noob you're probably going to get ganked alot.



Honestly, I would suggest anyone planning on buying Arma2 just for dayz to hold off and wait for it to be released as a stand alone, or be ported over to Arma3.

All that being said it's a fun mod, I love stalking around an all that shit. Can't wait for it to be "finished"

Played it today and started out with no weapons. Travelled through a huge group of zombies without getting noticed and some also came up behind me and chopped me up with an axe.

Also a hint for you guys, the Winchester with 12g slugs is a one shot kill weapon. Can be found in barns. ;)
