Traditional manuals are bulletproof, SMG is faster. Its a personal preference for performance driving.

If you are thinking about using an SMG because you think a manual is a PITA then pass, they are nothing like a tradtional automatic and are clunky and slow when driving around town, they dont really get reasonable until you start punishing it.
              Im now E30less.

SMG can also be kinda tricky to drive. And it's really an enthusiast oriented transmission because it's not exactly smooth to daily by any means. I'd say DD the manual e30 and keep the m3 as a weekend car, and get SMG. It's a fun change from a fully manual DD.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Manual, makes your interior look 1000x better than SMG, at least it shows how many gears u got haha

But in all honesty manual is just plain out fun to drive, gives you the sporty feel along with depressing the clutch and shifting, good ol days, although yes SMG is good for track use reminds me of F1 with paddles, but for DD....neh id yawn, makes the car less fun with it!

SMG has a pocket rocket for a shift knob.

                        Woman's car for sure.

Probably because its sportier/faster/more race oriented.
