hey wats up guys i deciding wether or not i should get the smg or manual. i just got a manual 325ic e30 and i like the manual but im not sure if i would like it for daily driving. i also just starting driving manuals a week or 2 ago there amazing. i heard great reviews about smg but what scares me is it failing i had a acura tl before this and it had a really bad transmission.(auto) now i cant decide what to pick manual or smg what do you guys think? is manual easy to drive in traffic? also if i leave it in mode 6 shift to shift ALL the time does it matter?

the SMG is still a 6-speed manual, it just uses a computer to shift. you don't drive it like an automatic, either. it's the exact same transmission as the 6-speed M3.

          manual.

I drove an SMG M3, and while it was fast and shifted hard, it was not nearly as satisfying as having a third pedal and shift lever, and did not feel natural to me at all.

Op driving manual in traffic is not that difficult when I bought my e30 it was the second time I've drove stick in my entire life stalled it twice in Los angles traffic on the 90 mile trip to where I live , also endless you drive like a total jack ass the Getrag 420 in the e46 which I'm assuming is the model interested in is a very durable transmisstion , the clutches are a bit heavier than e30s but that's not that big of deal

Ive never really found driving in traffic in a maual to be very difficult. You just gotta be patient in give extra room in front so your not on and off the clutch all the time.
Sure it can get obnoxious sometime, but its not tiring. I just think its the constant starting and stopping, which is obiously what happans in traffic.

I guess what im saying is to get the manual. Much more fun :)
I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.

                SMGs are for pussies.

They also go through pumps which are like 2k to replace.
