Pus in my neck?

I've had this tumor in my neck on my lymph node for a couple months now. So after a c-scan, an mri, and now today i had a biopsy. I'm still a week away from a solid diagnosis. During the procedure the doctor tells me there is a lot of pus in the tumor, and thats actually a good sign. Could mean I just have an infection of some type that the previous round of antibiotics didn't take care of. He pulled five sample and one of them produced about two teaspoons of pus. I wish i hadn't left my phone with my wife or i would have taken a pic.

I've had 3 "Peritonsillar" abscesses, 2 of which I had to undergo emergency surgery and 1 which I got megadosed with antibiotics and morphine.

I have funny stories about them, actually.

Regardless, they sucked and were fucking awful.. worst pain I ever experienced. And nothing is worse/better than having your swollen throat cut with a scalpel and 4-6 ounces of green, rancid pus pour into the back of your throat/mouth. What a relief, though.

Sounds like an abscess. Antibiotics are not typically able to penetrate the pus-filled portion of the abscess to kill the infection. In order to treat an abscess, it must first be drained and then treated with appropriate antibiotics.

How far did it squirt when the doc drained it?

its not on my neck it's inside, surrounding the lymph node. Definitely not an abscess.

I had one of those on my forearm when I was 19, my mom (doctor) lanced it and cleaned it with a q-tip dipped in alcohol. I swear she had half the thing inside my arm. One of my friends was watching and he almost passed out seeing it.
