While Samsung was being douchey about their skin trying to look like IOS (which I would be stoked if this whole thing made them give up that ugly skin) the patent system is a pile of shit right now.

They just throw shit at the wall and see if it sticks. Apple patents any hair brained idea they can come up with even if they have no way of implementing it and it has no practical use today.

Hell recently they patented using headphones wrapped around a pole as a way of charging an ipod. Yeah, maybe in 10 years someone might find a better way to make that work but they cant implement it because Apple holds the patent on it. Its the same with their mobile device patents. The ones that are old are basically taking concepts that existed but nobody could implement and patenting them well before you even had a viable method.

That SHOULDNT be legal. You should actually have to patent SOMETHING. As in a specific device or method, not just a concept. As for design patents, there shouldnt be any either. The "trade dress" could easily be argued without a patent, which is why the rectangle patent has been invalidated everywhere on the planet where common sense prevails.

WHAT? I think Motorola had rectangle cell phones in the 80's right so tha means Apple owes back taxes.

What dipshit judge would allow a ruling on this? @#$% seriously I think I might start taking Chinese or some other language up for the upcoming takeover. wtf.

Free market will always decide what products are superior.

No companies will hold unfair advantages.

Nothing new, Its like when apple tried to copywrite the letter 'I' for use as a prefix.

Apple has been dealt a severe blow having been told that it no longer has a monopoly on the letter "i" as a prefix for all its products.

A trademarks tribunal has knocked back Apple's bid to stop a small company from trademarking the name DOPi for use on its laptop bags and cases for Apple products.

The California-based technology company argued that the DOPi name - which is iPod spelt backwards - was too similar to its own popular portable music player which has sold in excess of 100 million units worldwide.

This morning more than 30 trucks filled up with coins of 5 cents arrived at Apple’s headquarters in California. Initially,  the security company that protects the facility said it was diverted to the wrong place, but minutes later, Tim Cook (Appl...
