Good beginner BASS for a girl?

I am looking to buy a Bass guitar. Can anyone point me in the direction of one That would be a good starter for a 5'5 girl?

All bass have long necks, so anything cheap that sounds decent will be a good starter.

I bought the fender squire bass kit from guitar center a few years ago just to screw around with. Works decent. Not very large. Decent sound. Comes with the amp and tuner and cord and bag and.....a sweet fender sticker.

I would start with something cheap until you decide to stick with it. The best sounding guitars aren't always the brand name or expensive ones.

Its fretless and awwesome for a beginner. Not having frets makes it FAR easier to learn on.

I think it would be harder because if you are off a mm, the note will be either sharp or flat.
I started, geez, 25 years ago with an epiphone by Gibson. Still have it along with a few nicer ones.

I play an Ibanez Srx470. Only been playing for about a year and a half and have gotten pretty good on it. Awesome bass for beginners.

Buy something cheap. You'll be enthused for a month or two, then realize getting good takes work...........that's why you can find good deals on good equipment.

If you stick with it a year or more and get good, then you can think about spending more than $200 on a guitar.

It was easier for me since I came from playing the double bass. So going fretless was the onyl way to go.

I've never played an upright but it would be fun to try. I played a 5 string fretless once and could not ever stay in tune. Props for being able to do so. How much do you want for it?

Fender standard series stuff is always good. I had a Jazz bass for a while, it was very nice.
