I played with the iPhone 5 today for a few minutes. I didn't use maps too much but it seemed okay, not terrible. Holy shit the hardware...this is why Apple is Apple and makes iPhones, and everyone else is...everyone else. People may make fun of the "longphone" but the feel of using that versus giant androids is so amazing. Based on reviews, I don't believe that Steve would have released the Maps app the way it currently is, but it's cloud based so it's going to get exponentially better very fast. But wow, that hardware is amazing. It's gorgeous, amazing to hold in your hand, beautiful to use and all around awesome. The first car I ever rode in was an e30

I think it's funny how so many people wanted the iPhone screen to be bigger and now that they did it people still complain about it.
I for one thought the original screen size was perfect.
Seriously though there's always going to be apple haters no matter what. Just get what you want. I think there's so many people that hate the iPhone because they want to justify their choice of getting any of the phones running andriod.
IMO the only iPhone that was "revolutionary" was the first one, as it changed the smartphone market and spawned lots of good competition like andriod. Mostly the reason for the iPhone's success and the reason I have one is not because it does things that other smart phones can't do, but because it packages everything together really well and has the best combination of hardware, user interface, and features.
I've used several different andriod phones before and although they can break out some spec sheet of how this or that is better on paper on one or another phone, that really doesn't matter. What matters is mostly qualitative things like materials, button feel, touchscreen feel, responsiveness, user interface navigation and simplicity, battery life, picture/video quality, and so on.Zinno '89 <24v swap in progress>

I just got my iPhone 5 in today, and with 45 minutes it was fully synced to my calendars, contact list, web browsers, music lists, games, etc. This is why I like my iPhone (upgraded from an 8GB 3G). Androids are great too but I love the simplicity of these phones, I'm very computer savvy and love customizing shit too but my preference phone wise is simple. This fits the bill nicely, the whole Apple vs Android BS is as bad as the people waiting outside the stores to get one first. It's a PHONE.1990 332i, 4 door

I got mine Sunday. Came from a galaxy s 2...and so glad I did. The thing is simple and it gets decent signal. I thought I'd miss the touchdown app and I really don't. I'm not a fanboy of either and think the s3 would have been a good one but this is a huge upgrade from the s2. Like many of the reviews "maps" sucks but I think apple will get majority of the issues fixed soon..also sprint sucks with navigation use to I still use my trusty garmin

Yep, went from Motorola Triumph to Nokia 900. And its definitely better, however i cant compare it to the iphones; i have yet to own one. Windows takes some time getting used to for me.
Don't watch this. :o

Compared to Google Maps it is a horrid attempt to come out with something that is called comparable. Yes it has Turn by Turn (Which the Android version of Google Maps has had since EClair 2.1)
I know they will fix it in time, but to come out with something worse compared to the last version is comical.
And yes, I am an Android User, Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus running JellyBean 4.1.1

How long have you had the phone for? Thats great if you've had it since release. When did you get the OTA update to ics and jellybean? I've figured the staggered releases of googles OS is similar to how apple removes "process heavy" features on their older phones when they do a full update. Everyone gets 6.0 but only you....you....and you get to have everything because you dropped a fresh 200 bucks in the last year.
I've held onto my iphone 4 since a little after release date and am pleased that its holding up like an old nokia brick phone. Can't say that was the case a few years ago.

I have had the Nexus since launch, and while I don't wait for OTA they are officially up to 4.1.1. on both GSM / Sprint / Verizon.
Highly modified phones (ie non google experience phones) take longer to update, so its important to take all of that into consideration when purchasing an Android device.
I agree on the fragmentation and poke fun at Google all the time about it.
Galaxy S3, Nexus, HTC Evo 4G LTE, are all customized but very upgradable with unlockable / relockable bootloaders, good manufacturer support, etc.
However, if you want 100% promised updates you can buy a dev phone and do whatever you want with it, which is usually the direction I go.
Google does need to grow a pair and bring back the Android update alliance. They mentioned it once during the launch of ICS (I think ICS) and never mentioned it again.. Bad google!

i looked at samsung when waiting to fix problem at ATT, the problem is..... it's just tooooooooo big for me to justify it as a phone. I bet most have to use 2 hands to operate it, especially girls. Just hope they don't make iPhone any bigger than it is right now, and people who complain about it being light are on crack,it felt perfect & lighter is always better. Only time i can think of now when lighter is bad is if your trying to throw something."I wanna see da boat movie"
"I got a tree on my house"

I wont be going back to a non-Nexus. Sense was good in the 1.x days of Android but its only a shadow of what it was then, now Android is a platform that is ready to stand on its own. Id love to see manufacturers differentiate on hardware and, if they want, create some custom applications/widgets that are exclusive to their handsets but not mess with the core.
Now I just need to get the girlfriend on the Nexus S (unless Google releases a good 4" Nexus by Jan).Im now E30less.
