I have an HTC EVO 4G now. It's OK, but I don't really use a smartphone to the insane level that guys like you or others do.

I call/text, check the web if I'm out with the wife while she is shopping or something, maybe look at Facebook and check my email.

I want a phone to do those things, without constantly dropping calls or the phone magically rebooting itself and I want the battery to last more than 4 hours with hard use. That's it.

I would pick up the Galaxy IIIS or whatever, I just have a hard time buying a new phone with a new contract and the phone is already basically out of date.

Yeah, on Sprint. Sprint is struggling to get subscribers so they need to do this. Its a great deal, $150 cheaper than everyone else. Problem is you have to commit to Sprint. Ill be leaving Sprint in Jan.
          Im now E30less.

I just left Sprint to go back to Verizon. I should have never left. Shoddy 3g connection and horrible voice coverage, unlimited crap data was never worth it.

Yep, we are getting ready to ditch Sprint as well.

It's easy for them to offer unlimited data...........there is no where to use it!

                calling all android users:
I'm pretty open to any phone, but I would like to hear your guys' thoughts on the samsung galaxy nexus.

I'm kind of a hipster so I like having phones not many others have ;)
jk but seriously; give me your full unadulterated opinion on this phone.

Compared to Google Maps it is a horrid attempt to come out with something that is called comparable. Yes it has Turn by Turn (Which the Android version of Google Maps has had since EClair 2.1)

I know they will fix it in time, but to come out with something worse compared to the last version is comical.

And yes, I am an Android User, Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus running JellyBean 4.1.1
I based my original comment on simply watching the promotional videos on the redesigned maps. After using it, it's SHIT compared to Google maps IMO. Yea the "fly over" and 3D shit is cool, but I just tried actually using it for the first time (IOS 6 download) and it said my destination was in a fucking lake lol.

Did Apple cut it's ties with Google or something? They ditched the maps and the "YouTube" app doesn't even come as a standard icon anymore.

^ they did cut almost all ties with Google. The plus about IOS maps is that it is cloud based. They will constantly be making improvements and you won't have to be updating the app every five minutes like gmaps was starting to do. It's far from perfect, but they will certainly get there.

I'm holding out until downloading iOS 6 until the map issue is fixed...

And a few other bugs. It fucked up my dads calendar notifications. Now when he changes time zones his notifications are all over the place.

If you want a raw Android experience with the ability to run whatever rom, kernel, hack you could possibly want without any carrier / manufacturer intervention it is the best phone on the market to do that.

I changed a few things around on mine, overclocked it to 1.8ghz, undervolted the CPU, running a better radio / lte firmware, and running JB BAMF 4.1.1. (2.5 BAMF Rom)

If any of that stuff makes sense to you, the Nexus is a fantastic phone. If NONE of that makes since to you than you will still like the phone, and it has a nice solid stock JB 4.1 rom out there already (from Verizon/Sprint/Google)

there's speculation that a new model is coming out in the coming months, not sure if I should wait for that or not.
only thing that's making me hesitant is the plastic backing of the phone that may or may not make the phone feel cheap in hands.
The ui seems really well integrated w/ the phone tho, I'm just hoping that the redesign of the exterior will feel a bit more premium if that makes sense.

I ordered us IPhone 5s yesterday. As long as it makes calls/texts and lets me check the Internet I will be happy.
