This is a good point and also true from what I've seen. r3v is probably one of the last truly active forums I frequent. If a forum isn't active or hold decent information, it might as well die. I think r3v will survive, internet culture sure has changed things for car culture though.

Kids these days with their need for instant information, gratification, and of course validation for their life choices. Not many people can form a unique thought or plan anymore. It's not just social media, although it has accelerated the decline of current and upcoming generations as a whole.

By and large, I find the r3v facebook page to be insufferable, with the exception of FredK's elegant prose.

Yes. But it does paint a greater picture. Facebook has aimed to corner every bit of the "internet market". Could they be attempting to render the online message-board obsolete? Yes. Most likely.

That's great. If it wasn't for my dad, I don't think I would have been into these.

Thanks y'all. Had quite a fantastic Peugeot Saturday yesterday. This morning I took the 505 in for a new cat and exhaust. Got my new custom cat-back exhaust built, then removed for smog. Had it smogged with the OEM muffler and resonator.

It started with me taking the car to my local exhaust shop, owned by a die-hard BMW and American muscle enthusiast, also a childhood friend's uncle. He replaced my catalytic convert and built me a custom cat-back exhaust. Then, he removed my new custom exhaust an put the original muffler and resonator back on.

I then took the car on a spirited drive, with my buddy Jack chasing me closely off course as my tags were expired. NOT unregistered or uninsured - just since I failed smog, I just wasn't given a new sticker last summer. The car is fully insured and reg is paid for...

Dropped the car off at the smog shop, and went to eat some Thai food for lunch.
Came back, and not only to my surprise did it pass with absurdly low numbers, the smog tech was a former Peugeot head.

He had several notes for me, and noted that I needed to advance my timing by 8 degrees. It was a delightful little surprise, and they even cut my bill in half, so long the smog tech was able to pose with my car for a photo for his office wall.

Anyways, since the car had expired tags, my buddy Jack followed me to and from the shop closely behind in my Volvo. He just got back from a semester abroad. Friday morning, YES Friday morning, he grabbed me a Peugeot key chain from Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris, France.

I am headed back first thing Monday morning to have my custom exhaust mounted. Then expect a short but sweet photo shoot with videos.

From what I've seen and heard, these 2.0 4 cylinder push-rods sound amazing with a free-flowing exhaust. A lot of Aussie mess with these old XN-series engines like crazy. Dual Solexes, ITB's, are pretty common to see on these. Maybe one day if I get tired of the K-Jet I'll throw it away and go with a cool carb setup. Maybe. Just maybe.

Here are some photos from yesterday. Not wonderful.
I'll take some good ones tomorrow.

I was caught in the act looking very 80s in the Reebok jump suit. So a photo was taken.

Up on the lift. Gotta love California cars. Not a single centimeter of rust to be found on the underside. The original 32 year old cat and exhaust were nasty though.

My buddy Jack had the pleasure of chasing me in the Volvo.
Over spring break, my dad and I tackled a brand new clutch AND swapped in a 100k 5-speed manual tranny on the Volvo.

The original manual tranny was on its last legs, whistling like crazy. Had a shotty input shaft bearing and had no oil in it.
