scale down 40 mph to rabbit size, i.e. like 1/100th (by mass), so that would be 0.4 mph.

Rabbits can run on the order of 10 mph (wild ass guess), scale that up 100 times, 1000 mph.

Obviously speed capabilities won't scale linearly like that, but you get the idea. You ain't gonna outrun a grizzly sized rabbit.
