Won't your body develop a tolerance with extensive use?

^Unfortunately, that's true with just about anything in the world.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

^Unfortunately, this dude doesn't know what he's talking about. lol jk, but for real... no. Similiar to developing a tolerance to chapstick and your lips stop producing moisture. Won't happen.

Melatonin is a naturally occurring endocrine hormone produced by the pineal gland in mammals which, in manners well beyond the scope and purpose of this post, is heavily involved in the sleep-wake signals that regulate our daily bio-rhythms. It’s also a powerful anti-oxidant, but that’s for another thread.

If you built tolerance to an endocrine hormone, then all people would build a tolerance to the normal endogenous levels they secrete naturally every day. Eventually no one would be able to sleep worth a damn if that were true.

Your evidence is an ABSTRACT of case report on 3 people which had nothing to do with melatonin tolerance (bet you didn't even have access to the full article) and a yahoo thread? Geezus.

First of all, you do not ever... EVER.. EVERVEREVEREVEREVER (Friday reference there) make a clinical desicion based off a case report.

Secondly, that case report isn't about melatonin resistance... it's about the activity and inducibility of CYP1A2, a cytochrome P450 in the liver that just happens to metabolize melatonin. If you take another drug that is metabolized by or induces that same cytochrome... you get what's called a drug-drug interaction. All this case report is saying is that there's a drug-drug interaction somewhere that is decreasing the metabolism of melatonin, and they can't even tell you what that is. It's probably because the 3 subjects... a 61yo, 6yo, and a 3yo (stupid to even make a case report with this variance btw) are on other medications already to help deal with their chronic insomnia and intellectual disorders. I believe the author of this case report had the latter as well.

                Thirdly... voices.yahoo? Really...

I was using more as evidence that it exists, but you seem to know more about how the body works than I do.

Klonopin. I took it each night while backpacking solo for a few nights. Knocked my ass out. Still not sure if I saw a UFO or hallucinated. Probably hallucinated. Upon further reading, I decided not to become dependent on any sleep aids and just practice good sleep preparation, such as not being on R3V at 11pm at night.

I just took an ambien. I like to have my mac on because it makes everything wiggly.

It's hitting me and it'sd so good.

I wish it were a quaalude.

Honestly, go for a jog and do something to get your heart rate up, or play a really fun game that excites you. Then take a warm shower with chamomile. Then when you lay down, get to you favorite porn stash/bookmarks and masterfully masterbate but try to extend the jerking time long enough to again raise your heart rate.

Once you jizz you body will secrete extremely heavy doses of prolactin, melatonin, oxytocin and some other shit that will knock you the fuck out.
