My Thumb Is Starting To Itch, Anyone Else Here Snowmobile?

So hear in New England the leaves are starting to change, I've got another month before I put the E30 away for the winter. My wrenching attentions have turned to my other baby. (Fiona, my 2002 XCSP 700).

Been sledding for years and have owned all the brands. This is what got me into wrenching as a hobby. I rebuilt my first 2-stroke motor with my Dad when I was 8 years old. Obviously sleds and cars are different beasts but all the work done on my sled helped me realize that you can always figure out a way to put something back together and to never be afraid to take something apart.

I purchased Fiona off my father, she has been in the family since new. She has 15,000 miles on her and has only provided a couple hiccups along the way.

First top end job was at 12K and this was preventative maintenance. She was still pulling 116 speedo readings under the right conditions before the rebuild.

This past winter at the end of the season she shat a connecting rod bearing and will be getting a new crankshaft before the season begins.

    Fiona's list of mods include:
136" track extension kit with 1.25" ripsaw
    Custom clutch kit
    adjustable pivoting 5"-7" bar risers
    Custom seat
    Custom Jetting
Rebuilt and revalved shocks all around
Every Bearing (outside the motor) replaced last season.

It's things like this that numb the pain of closing the barn doors on the E30 for the winter time.

What are you guys up to come winter time?

    Cheers..... and THINK SNOW :p

I desire owning a nice vintage sled to help pass NY winters. Looks like a great time!

Snow needs to happen now. I don't think I can wait till Nov 20. I miss boarding and I wasn't to learn how to ski.

That is a beautiful shot, for those that know where it was taken, a long long way from Boston / NE ....

Rocher Percé in the Gaspé peninsula.

Did the sled made it there by their own all the way from NE or where they trailered?

In Québec there many outfits that will rent sleds by the day, but in NB where I now live it is unheard of.

We trailered to Riviere-Du-Loop and toured the entire peninsula. Epic trip.

Virginia doesn't get enough snow to justify that.... but I get to drive the e30 all year!

I need a sled in my life. After I'm finished with my e30 I'll be getting a sled and a truck.

I never really got the appeal of snowmobiling, but it's huge around here.

Few things appeal to me here.

                              1) Bad ass nasty speed. My sled is 133hp and clocks in at just under 500 lbs.:p
                              2) I ride a lot in Maine and Quebec. (no speed limits in Maine practically none in Quebec unless you are close to town)
                              3) 16,000+ miles of interconnected trail in Quebec. We ride 300 miles per day and stay in a different place each night. Smooth fast trails, deep powder way up North.
                              4) Camaraderie amongst friends and family.
                              5) Hill Cross racing!
