    Backpackers

Just curious to see if anyone on here is into backpacking. I would say "camping" but people car camp or use rv's so that doesn't count. I mean hike your pack in, hike your pack out..

    GO!

My brother and some friends of his/mine are going to start doing this kind of thing next summer. Our plan is to throw a dart at a map of a location and choose that's where we'll all stay. Should be quite the adventure.

I can see the "crown of the continent" from my house. Yeah I have spent some time in the back country, normally we do it by horse back though

My dad did a little of the AT for a couple days with a cycling buddy who is also Army SF. He said it was pretty awesome. I kinda want to start doing it soon since I have alot of friends who go caving, rock climbing, bouldering, hiking, and hammocking.

Yup, just recently did a trip to Black Tusk near Whistler, was fun and pretty easy. Intend to get more into mountaineering once I master belaying. Spending this winter doing some snowshoe hikes and some time on glaciers to get those skills down as well. Goal is Denali by 30

                  Camp

                  Tusk on morning of ascent

                  Camp in the distance

                  It's big...

                  Yea...it's fucking big.

Going up. 50 feet of scrambling. Not for the feint of heart as it's about 200m's at 60ish degree's in all directions. Except the back side, that's about 100m's straight down.....yea, don't fall.

                  POV scramble

What's waiting for you if you fuck up, people to put it into scale.

Previous day trip, camped for shits n' giggles.

Gucci tent platforms Parks BC build, so nice.

Peak about 14km from vehicles, that ridge was about 2km long and was quite intimidating considering we got to it close to 4pm.

                  The long hike back

Great pics cale. My first trip was in Newfoundland. Got hooked ever since.
Hiked in Iceland (twice), New Zealand, Malaysia, Alaska, Yosemite, Kings Canyon NP, Sequoia NP, Rocky Mountain NP, Grand Canyon (4 times), Great Smokey Mountains and most recently Mt. Rogers recreation area in southern VA which was a delight. They were all great experiences and all very different. Now that I have kids though I have to keep it local and relatively short. But I do love it.

I want to go to NZ someday, to at least hike. Really would like to do a stag hunt too while there.

I don't know what a stag is, but it will likely be found in the South Island. No need to visit the north island if you only have a few weeks.

My dad and I hiked the Grand Canyon for a week, about 7 years ago. It is still one of the most memorable things I've done
