    Verizon Wireless Contract

I have ran into some problems with my Verizonwireless account.

I started a contract in January of 2005. In May, I believe I added a second line so that my friend could keep his phone. I paid $100 a month for two lines to share 1000 minutes, and both have unlimited TXT messaging. It worked out awesome for several months. I only had to pay $50 of the bill each month. We never went over anything like that.

Well as friends go I found that my buddy was not my buddy. He decided to get his own phone, and leave me out to dry.

So now I pay $100 per month to have two phones and way more minutes than I ever use.

The only way out is to pay $175 to get rid of the second line, but I cannot come up with that shit!

Anyway, I read through the customer agreement, there has to be more to it. There is no way out for the customer, other than paying the termination fee. It actually states that you have to pay up to $175. Is there any way I can do it by paying less than $175? Even $50? Or nothing at all would be great.

I tried pleading my case to the customer service rep, but they are drones...

I herd that if you move to an area that they don't cover then they need to automatically cancle your contract. Don't know if this is true or not but I just herd it. Look for a town in Montana and find an address there that you could use.

wouldn't I have to be able to legally say that I live in that town?

I don't know man. If you tell them you are moving at the end of the month, give them a new address etc it could work.

BTW this is in the wrong forum. Should go to off topic.

Yes. When I had T-Mobile, I moved to an area with absolutely worthless signal. They will waive the cancellation fee if there is no service. Their little map, however, showed excellent coverage there so I stuck with it until the contract ran out. $175 is not bad compared to some. Bad news is if you terminate your contract, you can't port your number over. Most cell companies have absolutely aweful customer service. Sprint/Nextel is the rare exception. The best luck I had was going to the mall and talking to someone at one of the stands. They are usually better informed than the people in Bejing only trained to speak their standard responses in English.

BTW, any luck locating a C101 plug?

I have actually found Verizon Wireless customer service (the 1-800 number) to be the best customer service I have ever dealt with. They are smart, bright, and easy to understand.

                1. Waiver for non-serviced areas are no longer valid...most ended that about 2003.
                2. Most offer a "freeze", but the contract is still valid.
                3. You can move to a smaller rate plan, so you are no longer paying $100/mo, but the 2nd line is still $15/mo.
                4. James is right, their customer service is wonderful...call them, tell them what happened. Tell them it was you cousin, brother, whatever...but NOT your "buddy" that screwed you over.

Remember that your credit rating is the single most imporant posession you have...you are responsible for it, it is YOUR fault. Do whatever is necessary to keep it perfect!

Yes... Verizon > you... I let my brother have my cell phone when I moved away to college about 5 years back... he racked up an almost $4000 bill in one month. My credit score is still hurting from the collection Verizon put on me for that. I should have sold my brother up the river, said that he stole it because verizon said if I wanted to go down that road I would get the hold and collections people off my back. My mother would have killed me though.

Verizon customer service is #1, and so is there service area, but try and screw them and you will get owned out the ass. I recommend calling them, being humble, changing your plan (which you will have to renew your contract for atleast 1 year) and put a hit out on your friend.

Verizon does NOT charge to change your service plan. The old plan will be pro-rated for the rest of the month, but no additional charges.

Eat the $9.99/mo. for your "buddies" contract, drop to 400 minutes a month for $39.99...keep your credit AND your friends by NEVER co-signing a contract for ANYONE again...

Dial 611 on your cell to call Verizon. It does not hit your airtime.

Look at it this way. You can pay $175 to get out of it or for the next 2 months pay $200. I would just pay the fine and get out of there and get a new contract with what you want.
