Getting good use of used brake rotors

So since I have finished school, I have a lot more time than before. I had some used 993 Porsche brake stuff, so I sold the calipers, but kept the rotors.

    Here is what I did:
It's a test-version, to figure out how to make it work (getting size of the background right etc). It looks pretty cool in person, so I'm going to print off the BMW logo in good quality, clean up/polish up the rotor - and make the final version

I have three more of these rotors, so I think I'm going to do a BMW Tachometer background one with red/white needles.
These rotors are too heavy to hang on the wall, so I'm going to make legs for it so that it can stand on its own.

Oh yah, I'm doing brake job on my E30, so I'm gonna have 4 more used rotors :D I might have to drill some holes and make a clock. I can have a sweet ass clock in every room including the garage.

Yep, I love having the time on my hands (stupid pun intended).

So a big fat "BMW" in the center of a Porsche brake rotor? Hmmm...

      R3vlimited - missing the point since 2003.

That's pretty sweet. Did you just use the internals from a standard wall clock? I have a giant E39 M5 rotor in my garage, I've always wanted to use it for something.

be sure to use wall tacks to hold it up.

That thing is going to take down an entire piece of drywall.

yep I used a regular wall clock.

Basically, print off a picture in approproate size, print it off, glue it onto a thin cardboard so the paper isn't floppy. Take the clock apart, and the rest is very self-explanatory.

As for taking down the drywall - yep I agree.

Porsche rotors and BMW logo - it really doesn't matter. The roundel makes the perfect candidate for a boredom project like this.

Did you have to print on bigger than the normal paper size to get that roundel? I want to do this when I get home.

get with Josh (Eurospeed) about how to print them better.

I bought a clock from him a while back. Up close, you can tell its an inkjet, but from 5+ feet, it looks good.

yeah, I can print it off on a good photo printer, and should look great. Someone I know prints high quality photos for architectural designs all day, so I can get a nice print out.
