Sustained Body Weight Loss Link? Help.

So someone posted a link in a thread some time ago about an artical on weight loss and changing your body weight memory with sustained weight loss. It had a calculator that could tell you how many calories you would need to eat per day to change your body weight memory to what you want.

Anyways i have searched and searched and can't find it. Anybody have the link?

Do you mean to get a lower weight/lower bodyfat? If so....just need to change caloric intake to one lower than the amount you need to maintain your weight, and then once a desired weight/bf level is achieved, then eat enough to maintain weight (usually complete change in lifestyle).
Weight would never change if you are eating exactly enough to maintain your weight, even if it was on accident.

If that isnt what you are asking, then disregard :)

No There was a study done on your body having a weight memory. That area where you always seem to sit unless you are really really unheathy. For me I sit at about 85kg.

Anyways the study proved that you could change this body memory to what you want, using particular calorie calculator.

you just had to hold a particular weight for like a year.

so you have to be really careful about what you eat for a year. i think the next stage in body memory was 3 years. either way, flash is right. it's all about intake of calories vs amount of calories spent.

eat healthy first and foremost. then, reduce the number of calories going in your body until you are burning more calories every day then you are taking in.

Here's a calculation you can do without a fancy calculator:

Fast food + soda * 3 meals daily = weight of 1 American

                I think this was it:

Learn how to use the Body Weight Planner, which helps adults set their personal physical activity and calorie goals.

I think there are too many variables to be honest for there to be enough data since those who regain the weight typically didnt adjust their lifestyle and eating habits to one that included regular exercise and sensible eating habits (like biggest loser contestants). Normal appetite function of the brain will usually come around from just being careful with what you eat and exercising, additionally reducing fat mass to increase insulin sensitivity which is closely related to hunger.
I went from near morbidly obese to shredded (into bodybuilding) and it took a bit for hunger pangs to go away, but its really about controlling appetite mentally, the weight part isnt an issue for those who count calories.

For most that seem to never gain any weight, they typically have a normal appetite, and those who became fat (like myself) they had a large appetite or chose calorically dense foods very often (on accident).
Thyroid function also increases slightly as you eat more, raising the body's energy requirements and without exercise it will eventually get fat unless someone watched what they ate/counted calories correctly.

If you want to spread some good information on fat loss:

Those are good reads, the first is just cliff notes :)

Finally, if the person/people you are trying to help want some real information, the bodybuilding.com losing fat section is informative and will give REAL information.

                  Hope that helps!
