I was stripping a busted radiator fan for the copper wire in the coil. After stripping the copper and the copper from the wiring harness I found 2 coiled wires that didn't look like regular copper. After I pulled it and stretched it out it started to flake. The thing is in the center of the wire it has the typical copper hew to it all dark and what not. On the outside it has the goldish tent. Is this gold plating? I'm asking because gold was used extremely often during the time frame that our e30's were built and throughout the 90's because gold was relatively cheap.
Here is a picture for comparison.
On the bottom is the copper wire from the coil, in the middle is the copper wire from the wiring harness. On the top is the wire in question. Remember in the center of that wire it is the same copper color as the wire from the coil on the bottom.
