    Electronic drum sets?

Thinking about buying a set. I've never trusted the reviews for stuff like this, especially when some are thinly reviewed. Here are the ones Im looking at - all are on sale from amazon...

Go to a guitar center and try some out. They usually have 2 or 3 sets put out for demo.

If you just want to have fun, electric drumkits are cheaper than traditional ones & have a more advantages like being quieter, & you can just plug in headphones too if you want. Plus they take up less space and are easily transported.

Downside: If you plan on participating in a band or ever performing live, get a real kit. If you attempt to play a show on an electric one, you will be laughed off stage.

Yea, I have an accoustic set at my place. The girl wants the electronic set, I'll see if guitar center has any - last time I was there they had one set up, and it wasnt near these prices - they were drastically more.

Well there's going to be top end ones too. I suppose you could easily end up paying more for the exquisite ones. At least you don't have to replace any heads or cymbals.

Roland, Roland, Roland. Yamaha if you are absolutely strapped on cash. You get what you pay for.

Stay away from anything else. I have had a Yamaha DTXpress and they don't come close to what Roland can do. I now have a TD-8 and even though it is older, it is light years ahead of my DTXpress. Roland makes great products, in my opinion. Mesh heads are a big plus, individual volumes for each head, dual zone for pads and cymbals (triple on some models), all sorts of nice stuff.

Only downside is that they will never be like the real thing; I grew up playing acoustic drums and when I got an electric kit, it wasn't the same. Electric kits today are much more advanced than they were even 10 years ago.

Go play some in Guitar Center to get a feel on what you want to get.

I have a roland vdrum setup. Don't really use it very much tho. But I don't use my acoustic set very much either right now....

But I would buy roland. Mine has a mesh snare but just rubber tom pads. I snagged it on CL for $400. I am happy with it. Not something I would gig out with but it is great for practice or being able to play and not be very loud.

Mesh practice drum heads plus ddrum triggers plus dtx yamaha brain equals cheap fun electronic drum set. I swear by it. Utilize that drumset that's too loud to play. I spend less than 1k and converted a pearl export. You will also need electronic cymbols and hihat foot pedal. I have pics I.ll load if anyone is interested. I record with it I gig with it. Get the look of a real drum set but the ability to play any room loud or quiet. I also have a powered 18" sub kicks so hard. Just a little imputed I eat and breath drums and e30. I highly recommend a cajon or the box. That shit amazes people. It's.also paid for itself 100 times over great for acoustic gigs. Small bars or coffee shops.
