    but still, good luck OP! don't bother feeling anxious, it's totally counterproductive to displaying your true, working knowledge.
    your hard-earned tax dollars at work.

    I wouldn't worry too much about it.. 74 is actually not bad at all, as most guys who score in the 50-60 range still end up with some pretty decent jobs, as long as you can see and hear and have no serious medical concerns..
    concentrate on the mathematics and mechanical sections and you should have no problem landing a helo mech job

    I scored a 92 on my first try but I can't see for shit so I ended up in medical (Navy Hospital Corpsman) instead of getting my preferred search and rescue job..

    Navy = helo
    Army = chopper
    USMC = duh, duh!

    Scored like an 89 the first and only time I ever took it going into the AF. Just take it, its likely that studying for a test like this will not help.

    Interestingly enough math was by biggest problem. But I have been working on it for a few days, whenever I could. I guess as long as I meet the requirements for my desired job type, I'll be okay with that.

    ^ that.

    It's pretty easy to score in the 90s as long as you haven't failed any of your classes in high school. If you scored a 74, I'd look at what type of questions you're failing and study accordingly. That is, if you failed the math questions, study math.

    Agreed, mostly common sense.

    Even a mediocre score will get you into most jobs, but dont worry, lots of people who get into certain MOS's do not possess the brain power necessary to carry out their missions. So if you get in over your head you will be surrounded by plenty of others who feel the same way.

    Its mostly general knowledge and analytical thinking. The Matt isn't overly complicated and if you did well in high school/college it will be cake. I made a 79 on mine without trying and had my pick of any job in the Navy.

    It's mostly common sense, I score a 85 or something. If you want to be in maintenance focus more on the mechanical and electrics... You don't have to be smart to do most jobs in the army anyways

    Military guys: ASVAB advice?

    I'm taking my ASVAB tomorrow afternoon finally. I've been reading through some books to help get my brain in the right state. I scored 74 on the practice test they offer online, and that was before I even studied.

    I'm trying to work on helicopters for the Army. More specifically I'd like to get my hands on the gas turbines. My Dad did it for a while, then ended up working for Wood Group Pratt & Whitney doing the same thing until he passed away. Now my brother works for them. It's a pretty decent career and it interests me.

    Any advice for taking the test? As I get closer to zero hour I'm getting nervous. Thanks in advance!
