    Military Question

How hard would it be to get stationed in Germany? I am looking at joining the Air Force and Germany would be cool to be stationed at for obvious reasons, *cough * the Nürburgring. I know a tiny bit of German and I am probably going to take a German class next semester. I was looking at the bases and I guess Rammstein is the biggest U.S. base in Germany.

    Anyways advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Spencer

So... You're considering joining the military because you want to drive the Nurburgring? Are you confused?

I wouldn't join the U.S.N. then. Have you talked to a recruiter?

its extremely hard to choose where you get stationed, its all a game of luck. not worth it if the only reason you wanna join is to live in germany

Depends on many factors. New enlistee's have a variety of options that many others do not. But depends on career field and basically will there be a vacancy with your skill level when you are finished with your training.

These don't seem to bad at all, it is about the same price as track time here. Unless you are on an Air Force bitch salary.

No, I was looking at joining the military regardless. I was either going to do Air Guard or try my luck going active duty and attempting to get getting stationed in Germany.

Not yet. One of my Army friends told me to hold off on talking to them until I'm 100% sure about joining. Besides recruiters just tell you what you want to hear anyways so it's not worth it just yet. I'd rather do all my research ahead of time and have all the info ready for when I talk to the recruiter.

I figured if you know German it would help you get stationed there.

Gotcha, what would be the best career field that you think would get you stationed there?

I don't think it would be that hard to get stationed over here, but expect to be deployed and not be in Germany for most of it. I spent 7 of my 8 miitary years here-but in the Army.

your little bit of knowledge of the German language will not help at all.

the ring is fun!!! and you can ship your car here for free!

                        I can guarantee you Germany.

Sign up for a job that is needed on every base... Aka Security Forces or Services
Fill out your dream card in basic as such... (1) Korea, (2) Germany... No CONUS bases

If you volunteer for Korea, or practically any sort tour, you'll get it. Short tour = base of preference on way out.

So, go to Korea, save money for a year, go to Germany and have fun.

I can vouch for that. I went to Korea 3 times, but I was in Germany for over 12 years. I was at Spangdahlem and Ramstein. But it also depends on what job you have. If you're a cop, you can get stationed at Buchel (German base), literally 15 minutes from the Ring!

Now that I'm in Vegas, I'm trying to get back to Germany but as a civilian.
