didn't wanna make a new thread for this, but this video is equally as awe-inspiring as the former
I need a 510 in my life

I wasn't going to get into that much detail, but yes, its very rare here in the states which makes it all the more sad that they screwed it up with that POS modern motor. I'd love a 510 SSS Bluebird.it may be modified with a better engine than what it originally came with, however that is not an ordinary 510 thats the bluebird SSS. they were not released here in the US and they are different from the 2door US 510. the bluebirds roofline, tail lights and front grill is different than the US 510. very rare.

The $40K 510 is F-ed up with the modern motor in it. Total waste of a car. It will cost a good $10K to fix it the way it should be.http://bringatrailer.com/2012/12/23/...ird-sss-coupe/
Right hand drive 510 for you at only 40K

Love the 510.
I originally wanted a 510 when I was looking for my FIRST car, many moons ago, but they were hard to find then because of rust.(22yrs ago)
I ended up with a crappy little 310 Datsun that got rear ended, then got the Z bug.
Second car was a 72 240z with blown rings that looked like James bond put a smoke screen up, when you drove off. My step dad and I did our first swap, a chev 350 4/speed...........fun:)Leave a comment:

ol skool stuff
really cool vintage /racing tid bit..
@ 16 : 21 of that vid youll notice a bare chested dude...he looked familiar to me....
he was the friggin originator of fast food joints on the East Coast....WETSONS!!!!!..his name is Herb Wetson..or Wetton or something similiar to the fast food name he chose.. his proper last name is Wetanson.....I went to a Wetsons in Bklyn back in the friggin late 60's!!!!
anyhew, the dude has had a full wonderful race career, racing ferrari's , porsche's etc..he surely had the funds...lol
The Kwech Alfa was sponsored by Wetsons at one point!
aaaaand....Mr Wetson is still involved in vintage racing, and is quite good...he owns some uber hi end vintage metal......
here is one rad ride of his...
running the e30 on the track at the same time w/ this beast is something Ill not forget.

He presently runs in a 2 day event at Lime Rock that I run in as well..... and due to his history in the food world , the event has a kick ass BBQ that he sponsors......its great.
here he is again......small world....bare chested again......he is kind of a slick hollywood rolex/patek kinda dude. A cool a car guy too.

The photo kills me look at the old cars in the background. How most of us old guys would drool for either MG. I see a rambler station wagon too.Leave a comment:

My Mom owned one, while fun it was a tin can. We were involved in an accident in it in 82 and boy that thing crumpled up like nothing. Having wrecked in an 02 I'd rather the 02. It stood up to more damage than the 510 did. I broke my leg and Mom had broken wrist.
We were stationary the other car a 77 Monte Carlo hit us offset in the front end my side. It was ugly.
See post 29The BRE 510 that won the '71 and '72 U2.5L Trans Am series was a 1.8L 4 cyl L-18 motor. The Alfa was a 2L. The '70 SCCA championship was won by BRE with the 240Z running an L24 (but they qualified with the roadsters, and up till the final laps the roadsters were winning until they both had axle failures handing the win over to John Morton in the Z.) This is absolutely worth watching. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5XAP4pCRps. It is the story of BRE's win with the 510
I'd love a 510 done in the Newman (as in Paul Newman)/Sharp racing colors like this
It would go nicely along side my BRE influenced 2L roadster.

Call me crazy, but if I was ever in a slim-chanced debacle between the choosing of a 510 and a 2002, I would hands down pick the former.
And save the e30 for my German fix:oLeave a comment:
