I remember reading somewhere that the engineers' intention was that you'd open it with your right hand, which puts you in a position to check over your shoulder to make sure you're not opening the door into an approaching car, bicyclist, etc.

BTW, I open with my left arm too, tho when friends ride and they struggle to find the door latch, they use the opposite hand almost every time.sigpicComment

it's far back like that so people in the back seats of a coupe can open the door and get out with relative easy.

I forgot the 2-door doors are longer than the doors on a 4-door... Idk how I open a 2-door door.
