    Home theatre thread

looking to get myself a home theatre system, but dont want to go the bose route as I am sure their are better for the $$$. Looking to spend $1000 for a good sounding system. Room is Living/Kitchen great room 22'x25' with 12 foot ceilings.

What setup do you guys have, what would you change if you could and what did it set you back if you dont mind....

I am willing to save more if need be to do it right the first time. Need entire setup.

    70" Vizio and a Vizio 2.1 Soundbar

    This +

    This

= awesome! I was skeptical of a "sound bar" with wireless woofer but this performs so much better than my component 5.1.

    Very happy!

My father in law has that soundbar/sub combo. It sounds decent but I am looking for bigger richer sound that will fill my entire room. Also may want to add speakers in the future outside or in master bdrm

I have an Onkyo HTIB 7.1 system that I'm really pleased with. Nice big drivers and a 200-something watt downfiring sub. But for a grand I'm sure you can do better than that, by piecing something together or whatnot.

well the projector was ugghhh. a mitsubishi hd 1000u. had to change out the bulb once. which was 100. but only because my drunkard dad left it on for 6 hours every night. the bulb lasted about a year. easy fix. too lazy to check the surround sound. and there are also neon lights in the ceiling molding to give that movie theatre feel

I have a bunch of turn of the century Denon stuff that still sounds awesome by todays standards. Most of the components can be fond for next to nothing on Ebay today

Any of you guys have experience with Focal or PSB speakers? Right now they seem like pretty good value from what Ive been reading.

I have an 83" mitsubishi DLP, paired with a SVS 5.1 setup.

I had my Pioneer Kuro, but in my new place it looked tiny.

Focal speakers are very high end. I've never had the opportunity to listen to a set, but from what I've read they are sweet.

My Dad has PSB speakers they're awesome. I think they're out of your price range if your looking to drop just a grand on speakers.
