    Workplace shooting in Phoenix

    I called it.

Leading up to the Connecticut school shooting, the public was all up-in-arms about gun control this, gun control that. Then the shooting happened.
The governor of Texas then went on to boast about Texas being one of the few states that still stands behind the 2nd amendment, and to come to Texas where you still have the right to bear arms.
I said watch, there will be a shooting in Texas next. Fast forward to Jan 22, and boom: shooting at community college.
While we were watching the news coverage of that, a coworker of mine that recently moved here from Arizona said that the gun laws there are even more leniant than Texas. I think you can carry a firearm on your person in Arizona.
I said watch, next one is in Arizona. My buddy agreed and ssaid which city?
He said Tucson, I said Phoenix.
Got that one too. Earlier today, 3+ were shot by a gunman in an office complex. Gunman is still at large.

I know there are conspiracy theorists that say the government and/or the CIA is often behind many tragedies with the objective of swaying the public opinion one way or another on various issues.

    What's really going on?

It's all over the radio here.

16th street and Glendale is a shitty part of town.
Shootings happen every day in that area.

JK, but I don't see the point of this thread, people have been killing people everyday forever.

Let's start a r3v shooting pool. Everyone can enter, $1 per guess. Winner will be the closest within a 50 mile radius.

But srsly. Good thing they're not covering Oakland, or Newport News, or maybe Chicago. They just kinda make a huge deal out of certain shootings. Almost can't not be some agenda there.

Ill tell you whats going on...

Its not hard to figure out...these horrific acts were very rare in the past. What has changed is mental health and how it is treated. These shooters are always adolescence or teens with some sort of mental issues, that have always been on, or have taken psychotic drugs. You get these meds mixed in with all the social stigmas that are young people struggle with, and add hormones into the fray, it no wonder they "snap". 40 and 50 year olds are not doing these deeds.

So I feel it is an issue on mental health, and keeping weapons (of any kind) out of their hands. Unfortunately, gun bans are not the answer. Guess what, drugs are illegal too...Im so glad they never fall in the wrong hands. :loco:

But seriously, steps need to be taken to address that issue, but in the mean time, we need to be prepared to equal the playing field. We need someone in our schools to be armed. Someone with authority, someone who is willing, someone who will receive training, and someone who is willing to run toward danger, rather than away.

In all of the last 3 shootings, the shooter made efforts not to be challenged. The theater shooter traveled past 3 other theaters to the one he choose because it was a "gun free" (no CCW) zone. The mall shooter took his life, only when engaged by a licensed CCW holder. And the Sandy Hook coward took his life only when police were entering the building.

So it is obvious "time is of the essence" in these situations. Until we have an iron clad way to protect people/kids from these disturbed individuals, we must use the same force against them...as they bring it to us, we need to bring it to them, and do so quickly.

Then there is after the fact...after the fact where the media and law enforcment conspiring to tell (or not tell) pertainic facts about the cases. For example, CT has one of the strongest gun storage laws in the country, so how did the Sandy Hook shooter get the guns? You can bet your ass someone knows, but why doesnt the public? Also, it was just reveled late last week the the dreaded "assault rifle" in the Sandy Hook shooting wasnt even used! In fact, it was never even taken into the school! Nobody can tell me this wasnt known within the first hour of the investigation, so why did it take so long? Ad the fact that the source said that fact was "leaked" tells me that this attempt to "hide" information was propaganda to support an agenda.

Bah...I sometime wonder what has happened to this once great country.

                          haha fuckin r3v

I am aware that shootings happen everyday, but it seems that the press is covering those in the pro-firearm states more frequently now, and somewhat predictably..

Yeah, all those teenagers committing workplace violence(what this thread is about). Nidal Hassan, 42 was a teen, so was Andrew J. Engeldinger, 36 and, the guy that has that kid in a bunker and shot a busdriver, I could go on for pages I bet.

Funny things. James Holmes is the sheriff? The same day Gabby Giffords is speaking to the Senate? Really?

btw great response Chris - just what I was looking for..

It creeps me out that the public is largely oblivious to the real reasons that things like this happen - and then on top of that, the coincidental manner with which they occur.
The sad fact is, there are reasons that these things happen, as Chris mentioned, but each reason opens up to it's own can of worms as far as correcting the problem.

I think there are far too many mistakes that have been made during the progress of our nation that have never been fully corrected and now is the time that we're finally paying for it - when all those factors meet at a point, and the depressed, drug-crazed psychopaths are creeping around among us, stockpiling weapons and using them on innocent people.
And the public doesn't know whether to shit or go blind.

And yes, Mr. Kaiber, they're definitely of various ages, with various upbringings..
That is what makes it even more difficult for the public to comprehend - no parallels can be easily identified between these shooters, yet they're coming out of the woodwork, almost as if they've been called upon by someone or something..
