So we all join the club, post our time picture as mentioned, and if there's an issue you can confirm it? Sounds good to me. I'll send a friend request in a bit.

Alright, just got home, tweaked the tires a bit, and only had time for one clean lap. This is what I got:

Sorry for the SUPER crappy picture, it's an old TV. The time is 1:48.065
No aids, no helpers, manual trans., using a regular controller.

EDIT: We should definitely be allowed as many tries as we want over the course of the week. No harm in that.

This is an open group kind of thing? I may join in I've had lots of free time taken up by forza recently...
We usually go on whenever. Always a few people on to race with, then thursdays we have the BTCC style races.

I'll see if I can take a crack at it on my buddy's sexbox.

Also, this thread is worthless if we don't have all the driving aids off.

              ALL OF THEM.

I only use ABS as its what it came with anyway. I thought that if you were to use the aids, it would drive better but slower.

I turn off all aids except for braking lines, there is no sense of speed in video games.

Really? Braking zones. Figure them out.

i run abs and braking line. i've been playing forza since the original came out, and i have never been able to get the braking right, either too early or straight off.

Braking lines I don't think matter. If you were actually running on a track you would have a better idea than in the game constantly changing tracks and cars...it's hard to know where the F you're going

IMO ABS really doesn't make a difference, if someone is relying in it they'll be slower...

They did this sort of thing on the Forza 4 forum but they set it up to be a little bit more competitive. It actually seemed close to a DTM spec race which seems more fun.
This was the setup they used, what do you guys think?

                          CAR AND BUILD

                          -------------------------------------------------

                          1991 BMW Motorsport M3 E30

                          B426 - 229hp - 192lb-ft - 2362lbs

                          Sport Piston and Compression

                          Race Brakes

                          Sport Springs and Dampers

                          Sport Front Anti-roll bar

Race Chasis Reinforcement and Roll Cage

                          Race Weight Reduction

                          Sport Transmission

                          Race Driveline

                          Sport Tire Compound

                          Upgrade Front Tire Width (245)

                          Upgrade Rear Tire Width (245)

Team Dynamics Pro Race 1 Rims

BMW Motorsport Street Front Bumper (2nd)

BMW Motorsport Street Rear Wing (1st)

                          Rieger Street Rear Bumper

                          Rieger Street Side Skirts

                          -------------------------------------------------

                          TUNING

                          -------------------------------------------------

You can tune the tire pressure, final drive, and the brakes on your car. Everything else is locked by virtue of the build.

I've found that regardless of which car you're in, there is a general braking marker that only slightly changes from car to car, along with things like "left-foot braking" and throttle steer depending what you're driving. It just takes time. Besides, if you never try it without them, you'll never be able to see it on your own.

I don't think it gets much more competitive than completely identical cars, albeit slower ones. Either one would be fun, but I think this way is more friendly to everyone, not just those with setup knowledge.

Alright, just did 6 more laps and got down to here. I think it'll be harder to shave from now on.
