There is no arguing the lapd could of detained him "peacefully" yet the motion to put martial law into practice is an opportunity to allow cowboys be cowboys.

They coulda smoked him out, gassed him out hell, horse tranquilizer him out for all I care.

I'm not saying what the lapd did was wrong, however I do feel there was a great deal of emotion tied into the "shoot to kill" position they took.

Even Sadam Hussein had a trial....

Maybe I mis-interpreted you, Mr. Burns. I thought that your comment earlier was suggesting that the entire story was fabricated by news media to generate viewer profit..

yeah so this guy is swordfish now. And why would they not burn it down, I wouldn't be trying to sit in the cold and he just killed a cop in front of them so why do we need another savage sitting in a concrete box costing money.

"San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon said Wednesday his deputies did not intentionally burn down the cabin. His deputies shot pyrotechnic tear gas into the cabin, and it erupted in flames, he said."

                Hey just like Waco Texas.

it's been that way for years. SLA in 1975, Waco in 1993 are couple examples that come to mind.

i call bs on any LEO who says the fire was unintentional.

There was no way Dorner was ever coming out of this alive. He was destined to eat a bullet, either from his own hand or, "suicide by cop". He had already made this decision when he instigated his reign of terror.

Many of you want to believe a "conspiracy theory" regarding his demise, but be logical for a moment . Proper tactical training dictates the safest way to remove a barricaded suspect is to force them from the building. A breach of a barricaded suspect is the last resort as it is the most deadly. Even then, the tactical team needs as much intel about the property before entering (i.e. booby-traps, # of suspects, # of hostages, etc.)

Given Dorner's background and training in military and LE and his willingness to use firearms, the last thing LE would do in this situation would be to enter the cabin. He had already engaged deputies in a gun battle, wounding two, one of which died later.

In this situation, forcing the suspect from the property would be the safest way to extract Dorner. Tear gas is the best tool for the job. Unfortunately, like most explosives, it burns very hot. Like welding torch hot. Most likely, this is what caused the cabin to burn.

Unfortunately, Dorner didn't exit the building and at some point it appears he took his own life. Ironically, I'm sure this played a role in keeping police and fire units from entering. Not knowing if there were booby traps or Dorner's status would be bad news for anyone attempting to enter the cabin. Once the rounds inside the cabin started, "cooking off", further entry by police and fire crews was impossible.
